Blooming Euphorbia mammillaris
Definitely one of the weirdest and smallest flowers among all the plants I have. I was never fan of Euphorbia blooms, and I am still not. They don't have to bloom at all if you ask me.
But they are still pretty interesting if you take a closer look.
Euphorbia mammillaris variegata
The plant is native to South Africa and usually it will be just nice and green. I have variegated form which is very light, almost white with some light green stripes.
In winter it turns more pink due to lower temperature and this is what you see here.
I am not even sure if I can call those little yellowish thingies petals. The whole flower is 3 mm in size. They appear on top of the stem in late winter and while one dies more can pop and they will continue like that for a few weeks. Pretty cool!
But what I like the most about the plant is the overal shape and light colour.
Nice colour, eh?
It looks like it was sprayed pink :)
The spines are up to 1 cm in length and are not very dangerous. A while ago when I didn't know much about those plants, I thought they were some leftovers after spent blooms and it would be ok just to remove it :P Luckily I did not do anything this stupid!
It still needs to be repoted this year. Those crappy pots just break when I try to lift the plant.
With age it will grow multiple of those little offshoots. They can be easily detached and planted. They root easily and grow quite fast.
Photo below was taken last year. It is much smaller and has the summer, minty colour on :)

Sigma has always impressed. And the color tone makes the flower come alive. This is beautiful, honestly.
Too bad we don't have this plant in Nigeria I'd have recreated this, except I don't even own a sigma. Well kudos, your gadgets are awesome.
I am sure you have lots of other unusual plants there that I could only dream of seeing here :)
Just go shoot them!
Sigma of course helps, but it is not necessary :)
Wow thank you! :D
