Fallen, rotten and forgotten.

dead wood forest pl 5.jpg

I like to shoot strange objects. Stuff that doesn't draw much attention or is simply not very pretty or desired. Dry plants, rust, and falling apart walls and bricks. It all has its weird charm.
This time I found a motherload of old, fallen trees.... or rather, what was left of them.

dead wood forest pl 1.jpg

All these were shot during one walk in the woods. The place looks so nice and spacious... Hardly any bushes around and not even that many fallen branches as if they were regularly picked to keep the place clean :p
Except for these few creatures sticking out here and there. The textures, twists, turns, and crevasses are just so dramatic and way too irresistible not to be photographed.

They remind me of the driftwood we can find on beaches.

This one 👇 looks like if would just fall apart if I kicked it hard enough :p

Most were covered in lush green moss and lovely lichens. They will just speed up the decomposing process that started a while ago. It looks like the bark is already gone. Now it's time for the harder center of what used to be a nice pine tree.

This last one looks like it is covered in jewels. @fraenk would probably clean it up a bit from all the needles before shooting :p

Look how nice and clean this forest it :)
It is also a great place to pick mushrooms. Since there are hardly any low plants, they are much easier to spot.

Thanks! I actually didn't even try with the BW. I liked the green colours here so decided to keep it.

And maybe put some googly eyes too 👀 :p

This one looks like a hungry monster... with a lot of appetite but who hasn't captured anything for a long time... You were lucky to escape from this forest :D

Poor thing looks underweight, what do you think it eats?
Do you think Ew would be a good treat? :D

No, they are not safe.

That's why they just practice their instruments at home, and not in forests 😁

I am terrible... I keep forgetting to take the eyes with me :( I should probably just leave them in a camera bag.

Now I know I will not go back to that forest. Thanks a lot!
:p

Fun shots! Decaying without the help of mushrooms 😉 I like that last shot of the forest. Always interesting to see forests from other parts of the world. Looks mostly pine.

Always interesting to see forests from other parts of the world.

Oh yes, I enjoy that too. And food :)

There are mostly pines in that part. The soil is very sandy and pines dont mind that.

All thanks to the tree :) It was really awesome!
I like the first one too with the little spiderwebs.

Sometimes a dead tree root is enough for a photo. The light and background are also very important, making the photo pleasant to see.

Good evening dear friend @ewkaw
I really like these shots, I love how you can see the branches of the tree next to the moss.
Thank you very much for letting us know about these works of art.
Have a wonderful night and a well-deserved rest.

Well, I love these photos and before you showed me the forest at the end, I already knew what it was like.

Those things you like to photograph, I think detail-oriented people really love them.

I think detail-oriented people really love them.

Never thought of that... Maybe its true. I enjoy seeing on a photo the things we often miss... things less obvious.

Love the colors, tranquility, and a drop of suffering in those bends. 🙂 The lichen look like strokes of an artist.
