Focusing on the wrong thing

brown Iris helios pl 2.jpg

I confess that I have been playing with my phone camera more lately. It is just so fast, small, and handy to use. The images are not terrible either.

But I did not forget about my cameras. Oh no! The phone shots still cannot beat the quality I get from more proper gear and a good lens. But sometimes I just can't be bothered to carry it all with me. That's my excuse, and I will stick to it :)

These are not phone shots. This is the King Helios, dear friends I sometimes get to play with.

The few types of iris my mum grows in her garden are planted by colours. The brown ones are the largest group growing under the big pine. Stunning, dark flowers with extremely delicate petals. I don't think each flower lasts longer than 2 days, and you can see a lot of dead ones. But they keep growing new buds, so the blooming fest can last a few weeks.

They are, obviously, great material to shoot. Especially that they are surrounded by a lot of green bushes. The afternoon sun helped here a lot too, catching some nice bokeh and shadows.

A row of yellow ones on very long stems and a beautifully fragranced. They need some support, or the wind breaks them.

A lost double-colour one.
I just love how the background turned out here.

I was focusing so hard to catch the lovely bokeh that I actually missed the focus :p But who would pay attention to the flowers with all the bokeh around?...

And here is the perfect example of it.
Bokeh looks delicious! The flower not so much 🙈

All the bubbles come from the light that was reflecting on the apple tree leaves and shining through some gaps.

Seeing the flowers coming out of the leaves looks like lots of butterflies... That's cool, bro @ewkaw 👍

I have to shoot a little more of that. I almost forgot how much I like all the bubbles!
Bubbly dreams :)

Lovely photos. I really like the last photo. I wonder if that effect oculd be created with an iPhone.
I have a camera but never use it. However when I see you macrophotography photos - I am tempted to find it and dust it off. Maybe one day when I take a photography course.😀

Oh I don't now. I have never shot with an iPhone. No clue what the camera there can do. It could be good..

Dust it... shoot! :D Just play with it and see what works.

I like your camera eye more. Because the image you want to see has been intensified.

Good morning dear friend @ewkaw how are you?
You've gotten some really interesting shots even though you didn't have your professional camera with you, but to be honest, your device takes fantastic shots.
I take this opportunity to wish you a splendid afternoon

They were shot with a camera :) I don't think my phone would manage to get that.
Have a great weekend ahead!

Nice shots. It is almost hard to take a bad shot with the Helios. I love playing with my Helios, but I miss my autofocus when I do lol. I am too lazy for my own good sometimes.

Haha I know what you mean. I wish I could use autofocus on all those old lenses... It would be just amazing :)
