FungiFriday - Come here, delicious ones.

boletus mushroom pl 2.jpg

Majority of the mushrooms I shoot are the inedible ones or the ones that I think are inedible so I don't pick them. Only then I have the time to admire them in all their funginess (I know it is not a word, I just made it up) and take some photos. After that I leave them and move to another one.

With the edible ones it is a different story. After I spot one all I can think of is to pick it and look for another one. There is usually more of them around as they do like to grow in group.
It is the rush kicking in (picking mushroom is such an extreme port! :p) that makes me hurry up as if the little guy could run away or hide under the moss. I can't control it. I am not trying to control it.

The downside of that rush is lack of photos :) I only think of that after they land in my basket and that is no fun anymore.

This one here is hiding pretty well 👇

All the mushrooms here are Bloetus type. If it is exactly the same, or few different within the same group, I don't know. They are all edible and I picked them all after taking the photos.

Here is another one!
This one really tried hard not to be spotted.

boletus mushroom pl 4.jpg

They tend to hide well and they have a reason for it. They are mot picked ones by humans (and slugs too) so they have to hide. Not like the colorful one that stick their hats high above the stick and mosses.

It as such a nice walk an dry and then cam the rain...

boletus mushroom pl 6.jpg

It didn't make it any easier to spot them and even harder to pick - they turned to a very slippery target.
But I had a chance to shoot them with some waterdrops :)

See all the tiny ones around?
Not the same type and I doubt they are edible.

boletus mushroom pl 10.jpg

boletus mushroom pl 7.jpg

That last one I spotted only because I anted to shoot the big one with a little fly on. I did not see the little bron guy.

boletus mushroom pl 12.jpg

Change of focus.
There he is :)

boletus mushroom pl 11.jpg

Ended up in my basket too. Where else? :p

Lastly Boletus Edulis according to Artificial Intelligence Imagination.
That must be me - the mushroom slayer 😂

Wonderful photos, full of light, textures and perfect colors @ewkaw friend... They are also beautiful species to see... You must have a fungus "detector" friend!... ha ha ha... :))

I have laughed a lot with the result of your "not so Intelligence" AI about Boletus Edulis ha ha ha :))

This has been a wonderful year for me at #Hive and you have been an important part of this from the beginning... I send you my deepest thanks and my best wishes for you, your close people, your cat, your succulents, your mushrooms, your wild plants, your photos (including "Mr. Helios") and everything that makes you feel good... Happy New Year dear @ewkaw friend!.. Sending hugs!!!

Aww, these are so cute. I love mushrooms and wished I could forage them here but - they're different here than what I grew up with and I don't have the time to get into it, sadly. Yours look like the ones we collected in Germany - yummieeeee!!!

It is like learning them all over again.
I am sure the German ones are exactly the same. They are just so good!

They were (are?) really good, but now I'm in the US, and - everything's different!

There is an ongoing argument/debate about whether the American mushroom is the same as the European one. Do you know?

They have a short shelf life when you pick them, so I end up drying them or preparing them and freezing them. Hmmmm...

Nice shots, Ewa! @ewkaw What are you gong to do with them? :)

Oh I have no idea. I just read that they do generally grow in Europe and America, so I would think they are the same, or almost the same.
But then The western North American species commonly known as the California king bolete (Boletus edulis var. grandedulis) is a large, darker-coloured variant.

We normally dry them and store in jars. Then we use them in soups (tomato soup with few of them added is really nice) or sauces.
Some smaller ones ended up being pickled - they become slimy, but are absolutely delicious as a snack.

Thank you :)

I am sure I did leave quite a bit of them. It is impossible to find them all.
Thanks a lot :)

Those boletes are a wonderful find, and they can be super delicious, although there are a couple of strains that are extremely bitter.

Lovely photos!
