FungiFriday - Moss is my friend

mushrooms moss log 4.jpg

We all know mushrooms and moss are like best buddies. Where there is one (moss), there is a high chance to find another (mushroom, the stakler).

I was on my way home when I passed a slightly darker and more humid place in the forest. There were lots of ferns, mosses, and broken branches on the ground. I went to take a look at the few that were the closest to the path, and I found these tiny guys.

Look how the one on the very bottom is bending just to be able to grow up (photo above 👆)

One larger on the same pile of rotten branches, like a boss of the littles. He was blending nicely with the fallen leaves.

Then I found a few larger ones growing from the very bottom of the moss mountain. Some hungry beasts chopped their heads off. I suspect they are very tasty, as I have seen many like this around. In some places, there was only the stem left; not a single hat was left behind.

And then I found a broken tree, or rather, what was left of it. About a 1 meter tall stump was left to rot and was slowly falling apart. The middle of it was all rotten, which means only one thing: a perfect place to store more decomposing leaves and water for the mosses and fungi to grow.

There were a few tiny little ones that looked a bit dried up, though. Being higher and more exposed to the sun doesn't help, does it?

And finally the moss itself. It was the same broken tree as above.

This is the best scene for the development of fungi, since the moss grows from humidity, the ideal situation for the fungus, in addition, the presence of the moss is a good contrast for the fungi to stand out.
What a beautiful variety, apparently the insects find them tasty. Excellent shots dear friend @ewkaw

What a wonderful world of mushrooms and I always discover so much beauty in your photographs. You have such a passion for them that you know how to place them and the perfect locations for them. I spend my time in a city environment, it's a dream to chase them and make a post for this community (for now), but I admire a lot when I eventually pass by here. Happy weekend!...

City photography is equally interesting :)
Fingers crossed you manage to get some soon.
Have a great day!

Small hat mushrooms like this sometimes have a characteristic color that is quite similar to fallen leaves and, all the shots of these little mushrooms look very charming ;)

#fungifriday greetings, hopefully you are always healthy there.

Mushrooms look very beautiful. I'm glad you found so many mushrooms 🍄 despite the hungry animals. The little ones look much cuter. But they can be more poisonous.🤗🍄

Lately we are looking exclusively for dead trees and branches hopefully to find shrooms in early stages and guess which species are gonna grow out of it.

Third one down resembles a deadly galerina. The fourth one down is looks like a honey mushroom species.

I thought the same about the fourth, but I am never fully sure about them.
The deadly galerina looks more shiny, but it does look very alike.
Thanks! :)

First thing that came to mind when I viewed your beautiful fungi images was how they reminded me of actors performing onstage in a musical play!🌿🍄

Happy Friday and have a terrific weekend! @ewkaw

I can see how the mushroom bends to adapt to its environment, what has caught my attention the most is that black mushroom looks like a brain, is it its natural color or is it the effect of being exposed to the sun?

You mean generally black mushrooms? I am sure they have a reason to look like that... some are also very smelly :p

The city I live in we dont have mushrooms around, I guess its because the weather is so harsh, dry, so I dont know much about them, most things that turn black in nature might turn been smelly and not good to consume 😅

Nice photos of the moss. We did have a blanket of moss in our garden but my camera refused to see them.
I had to take photos of trees instead.

Never been good figuring out which mushrooms are toxic and which not but they all look lovely in their natural environment. Lovely pictures too!

Such cute little things 🤩 I often get distracted from mushrooms to moss. I’ve always found it so fascinating 🧐

I just like how thick and green it is. It so pretty! And it is good indication the mushrooms can be around ;)

True dat! Although in our forest they barely go hand in hand - if they do, they’re rarely edible 😂
I took various mosses back home so many times to try and cultivate them, but I never quite managed 🙈
