Make a wish

dandelion lawn takumar 1.jpg

As far as I remember it was a wish kind of thing for us. As a kid we would blow those dandelions, but instead of making a wish before we would as some kind of question that could be answered with a number.

The amount of the little seeds that would be left attached to the plant would be the answer. Which sometimes was quite ridiculous amount when the seeds were too fresh to just fly away :)

I like dandelions even if they take over the lawns. I don't know why some people are so eager to get rid of them. They bloom pretty, they are edible and they are fun when they turn to those fluffy balls.

Let them be, hoomans!
Let them be!

All those were shot in the very late afternoon in out lawn where dandelions can grow.
There is even few plants of wild daises that bloom almost all year round. They are so nice, that the grass is cut around them on purpose so they don't lose their pretty little heads :)

We called them "wishies" when we were kids. Actually, I still call them that.
I never heard of the number-answer technique, though. What if the question was "How many kids will I have?" and you are left with something like twenty seeds??😄

Exactly!! :D :D
Not only the 20 kids is scary, but try to count all the tiny seeds too. 20 still doesn't sound so bad :p

I ate a ton of dandelions in that “wish phase” as I blew 😂

Is this the praying mantis rooting for the dandelions 🐛 😄

Beautiful pictures humun, i also don't know the counting technique. Pass it on so I can pass to the offsprings 😁

The technique is a hit!
But first you must blow one asking how many of those offspring's you will have... Make sure you blow hard (damn that sounds weird! 😂) and hope for single number 😂

I never understood why some people were so hellbent on clearing their yards of dandelions. They're so pretty and take basically zero work to grow :)

That being said, my dad used to pay me a penny apiece to pick all the dandelions in our yard. Money is money…

It is a deep hidden hate for the innocent weed. Nobody knows when and why it started anymore, but dandelions must go (for a penny:p).

If I ever win the lottery and decide to own a home with a yard, I will take great pride in allowing dandelions to grow everywhere with reckless abandon. My neighbors will probably hate me.

You can also accidentally make sure some of the seeds end up on their side :p
Just 'cause...

I will wait till the wind is blowing their way, and then wish for their yards to be filled with dandelions :D

I like this flower and its meaning. Dandelion has flowers, but can't keep the flowers. Flowers just always reach out to the wind. The wind is elusive and only knows how to love the journey. And when the wind is over, the flower knows: its source is the sap flowing in the blood of the tree.
