Mother of thousands

There is a reason why this weed succulent is called Mother of thousands. You start with one small seedling and within an year you have over 100 plants. And I am not exaggerating here.

As the plant grow, each leaf produces dozens of little seedlings. That's the tiny leaves you see on the edges. They detach extremely easily with a tap, fall on the ground and start growing roots. Some start growing tiny roots still attached to the mother leaf.

Yep - every single one of these is a new plants in the making.
The problem is when they start to fall into the pots they are not supposed to grow. After a while you start to pull them from everything around like a true weed.

Some of the little seedlings start to produce their own seedlings already too. Like on the first photo below.

It is a very cool succulent though called Kalanchoe daigremontiana. Besides that it is extremely easy to grow, it has very nice, and large for Kalanchoe type yellow flowers. Handles heat, sun and lack of water.

And the leaves have nice, tigery pattern on the underside. The stripes get more visible during the summer - they are dark purple, almost black.

I have a strange feeling these might take over everything given enough time. Look out, it'll be a jungle soon enough.

Kalanchoe daigremontiana is my name, propagation is my game 😀

It looks nice on colour too, but the contrasts are better in BW.
It is also an edible plant with similar properties to Aloe :)

That looks nice, reminds me little pearls on necklace. The nature is amazing, there are so much geometry and math we can find in the world of plants.

It is amazing indeed. And some plants have the most amazing shapes and patterns.

Those remind me of these plants in that if you add one to a pot, it will end up filling said pot lol. Not sure what kind of plant it is, but it is aggressive!

I have no idea what's that, but the leaves are supper pretty!
The aggressive ones are usually the easiest to grow. They are determined and will spread if you want it or not :D

I always thought that color was the way to go on Mother of Thousands but honestly, the contrast is quite nice in Black and White. My mom gave hers away as it was making a village every other day!

Striking good looks though.

Beautiful plant and phots. It is grat that it grows so easily but I would be afraid for it to take over. In my garden, I find it hard to throw away anything. So I transplant. I would find it hard to throw away new growth from this lovely plant - so soon I would be living up to its name and be Mother of thousands!
