Playing with focus

garden sony 200 6.jpg

I had a chance to try out a nice Sony 70-200 lens while I was visiting Poland last time. I had the Sony with me instead of the Nikon so it was now or never. There was no need for an adapter (I would lose the autofocus with it).

I took it to the garden of course, to quickly check what it can do. It was also the first time I used the Sony body with autofocus! Normally I attach the old, fully manual lenses to it, so this was a nice change.

Oh yea... catch the smallest things possible (because I was missing my macro lens). It did pass a test, at least for me. Especially that it is a zoom lens, not a macro one. The details, even after quite a bit of cropping, weren't bad at all.

The fluffy dandelions were everywhere and looked arrestable.

Below some scallions flowers.

I even got some tiny bokeh bobbles :)

Lastly one of my favorited things to do when I have few objects at different distance - set the camera te shallow DOF and play with the focus :)

Both photos (the one above and below) were shot from the same spot and the same settings. I just focused on a different thing.
This is how we can choose what we want others to look at and hide the rest.

Nice depth of field. I have been using Sony equipment for twenty years I liked it so that, almost all my digital equipment has been Sony. Before in the film world I used Canon and Leica.

Oh wow! The only Sony item I have is the body for the camera. I borrowed the lens from my brother to try it. I think he has more Sony stuff, but other brands too.
I mostly use Nikon body with different lenses.

I'm impressed with your lens, love that you got the dandelion seed on the grass head, that's a great shot.

I must admit I haven't played around with this much lately - my combo macro lens is almost always on full zoom lol.

I have a confessions. It is not my lens. I borrowed it from my bro :p

I don't use zoom lenses much and I should have. They are quite versitile.

Either way, you got nice images and I think if you were going to get that lens it would be a good option 😁

You achieved some very beautiful shots with this new lens, the dandelion pictures are great, because you can detail everything about them.
What a great trip to Poland that gave you beautiful landscapes and great pictures with the new lens Sony.

I took it to the garden of course,

haha that's about the only place I take photos, so I can post about my garden!

These photos are so clear! The tiny details are crisp, the colors are great. Those last two photos are really cool, how you can get some things to practically disappear by changing a setting.
