Summer spines
I didn't show any cacti in a while. It is not because I killed them all. No. They are fine (I just killed a few).
It is because they are not doing much now. In spring when they are all in hurry to bloom I keep shooting new buds and flowers. Now that the blooming season is over there is not much shoot.
Some grow nicely, some went dormant for the summer and will wait for the temperatures to drop a bit. So I just go water them once in a while and admire all the spines.
This is one of the meanest one I have! Gigantic, very sharp and very stuff spines. Grew it from seed and even though he hates me, he is my pride and joy. It better bloom next year too.
My only Thelocactus. Looks like a football ball :)
It grew really nicely this year after I repoted it. No flowers, but I am guessing it is still too young for it. I just love the look of this one!
Besides the very big spines, it has very light blueish-green colour. Really pretty one.
Baby Lobivias - just cause they are so cute.
One of the newest aqusitions - Echinopsis subdenudata. The spines are there. Just hiding. And they are not as innocent as it seems. Of course they will not make fingers bleed, but they will hurt.
The white fluff on the other hand is soft like cotton!
And last but not least a tiny little Mammillaria that grows just do freaking slow! The spines are gorgeous though!
The little ball you see here is maybe 1.5 cm across. Tiny thing with pure white protection from the sun.

Looks great in black and white too!
Yes, we love them, some for thorns, others for flowers :-)
Exactly! Some don't have to even bloom. They are pretty on their own :)
