The joys of autumn

autumn forest pl 9.jpg

Last autumn was just perfect in terms of weather, temperature and all that is best in that season. No wonder I was sneaking to the forest wherever I could to catch some of the aura and enjoy all the colours around.

I followed this path to reach a part of the forest I haven't visited for years. The trees are mixed, and among the pines there are oaks, acacias, birches, beeches, acers, and probably some others I don't know the names of. It is the best type of forest to visit in the fall. The colour range is amazing!

These layers of leaves on the ground made the walk even more enjoyable. It didn't matter they were a bit wet from the recent rains. All the bushes around had them tangled in as like Christmas decorations :) Of course I was trying to spot some mushrooms around or some other cool plants...

But then I looked up, and I was absolutely mesmerized by how the sunlight was bringing up all the colours of the leaves. The gaps between the trees were enough for some rays to go through, and it was all spots of gold or orange among darker greens and browns. So beautiful, I couldn't stop shooting.

The acacia behind it was still almost fully green. Nice background for the yellowing acer leaves.

I was trying to catch a nuthatch here. There were so many of them looking for food on the old acacia trees, but they were way up high and very fast, running up and down the branches and hiding behind them. Beautiful little birds, though, and fun to watch.

Smaller beech leaves turn from light green, to yellow to become brown in the end.

And all the colours reflecting in a small puddle, and me playing with focus here :p

I enjoyed seeing the pictures from your hike. It's been CRAZY cold in these parts lately, so seeing some actual color on the trees was nice. I guess one of the cool things about taking pictures year round is that you get to go back and relive those moments. Thank you for sharing!

I am glad you did.
I actually like the cold, snowy winters too (when in Poland), but we dont get that here in Portugal. So I am a bit jealous of all the showy shots I keep seeing.

Oh, it's a wonderful time of year. Multicolored forest, pleasant smell of rotten leaves and earth.

It's amazing how you can recognize different trees in that colors. It would be the same in my eyes it it's me. The fallen leaves were mesmerizing indeed, it's like a setting in the movies.

They all have different leaves and I always liked to know what tree it is just by looking at the leaf shape :)

Colourful indeed, Autumn's colours never ceases to amaze me. Look at the puddle and the reflection of the trees on its surface. Altogether, a festival of colours.

Your first photo would be magnificent in black and white, I tested it and it allowed me to see a detail whereas in color I had not noticed it. A beautiful fly behind the transparent sheet. I like to look for the detail that goes well
