What Sigma can do

You probably have noticed my now (and if not I shall tell you) that Sigma 105 is the most used lens by me. If I have to pick only one to take with me for a walk - most of the times it would be Sigma.

It is a prime lens (no zoom), it is a heavy bazooka, but it does magic not only in macro photography, but look at that bokeh!
And I am sure I still do not use it to it's full potential.

After some heavy rains I found large puddles of water in one of the places I usually go shoot.
Now if you take the right angle with the sun, you will get all the water glistening and reflecting light. Time to get the Sigma monster and just shoot them bokeh bubbles :)

You can see the little blue Flax flower almost disappearing with the super busy background. It doesn't always work with small, delicate objects. But the fist photo with a dandelion turned out quite nice.

Dry weeds?
Awesome :D I can shoot those too.

The difference between these two images 👆👇 are only camera setting. I switched from F5.6 to F4 and you can already see the difference.
But because I was further away from the object the bokeh turned to be smaller.

Time to get closer. Now the difference between me and the object is smaller than between object and the background = nice, big bubbles.

Now go catch them all!

the 105mm Sigma is indeed a very nice lens , but i'm really tempted to get the Laowa 25mm f/2.8 2.5-5X Ultra Macro (Sony E) for my macro shoots, i just need more challenge i guess ;)

but as your pictures show the bokeh of the sigma 105mm is just great, have a great weekend

i know MR @digitalis uses a tamron 150-600mm i still have my Sigma 150-500mm with the old A-mount a specialy in the zoo i bring that big lens with and for moon shots . And yeah maybe i just should get it but at the moment i don't find that much time for super macro. Too many things hapening / changing on this side right now, including being a grandpa :)

My, my... Those lense sure are good for catching details and making for interesting compositions for shoots. I bet I could do better with the instruments if I had a good camera. Maybe I could learn to use the professional setting these things have.

Great shoots! I love the explanation for those of us who know nothing about photo shooting.

Thank you!
It is fun to play with the settings and see what you can come up with. And your instruments are great even without a camera :D

My pleasure.

And thanks! But I bet some better pictures would help me sell more.

Wow! It's bokeh with circles! It turned out very awesome!Somewhere I saw special lens attachments that allow you to make bokeh of different shapes.

Yea the circles are great!
You can cut a shape from a piece of paper and attach it in front of the lens. It will work too. I tried :)

Sigma has some great lenses. 18-35 was my most used one before i changed to full frame.

This is the only Sigma I have, though I would love to get the 150-600 one (one day). It is almost the only thing I use.
