Expecting less or nothing from people: a Costly But Cheap Route To A Happy Life.

It's a privilege as a first-timer to post in this awesome community. The topic of the KISS contest is so real hence people can practically relate. We hope that the content in this write-up will help shift the mentality of those who would find it interesting to read through.

what are some of your regular habits for being in control of your feelings, thoughts, and emotions.

The problem faced by a lot of people is their inability to control their feelings, thoughts, and emotions. While others do, greater numbers do not hence they are faced with the dilemma of their feelings, thoughts, and emotions taking control of them. As living beings thoughts and emotions are essential to a healthy life. Imagine a human without feelings whatsoever. As such emotions and feelings are blessings to humans.

However, the ability to have control over your feelings, emotions, and thoughts is a product of effective and conscious training. Believe me that anything we fail to have control of will in turn has control over us. Everything lies within our power.

I was enslaved by my emotions and thought patterns over the years, and I was always yielding to the desires thereof not until I engaged myself in some of these activities that I am about to share here that it lost its grip on me.

  • I ensured that I am engaged at work. It's of truth that an idle mind is a devil's workshop. Whenever I am engaged everything else ceases to occupy my thoughts other than what I am doing at the moment. This is a very practical approach to taking control of your feelings, thoughts, and emotions.

  • Another regular activity is listening to music. Music is an effective way of controlling emotions. Listen to good music with deep meaningful lyrics, because it has a way of setting your mind toward your goals and aspirations.

  • Avoid being alone. Spend lots of your time with friends and family members. And interact frequently with them. This will automatically eliminate every negative thought that might arise from within.

  • determined to take charge of your emotion thought, and feelings. This seems difficult to some people but it is very easy. When I realize that I was enslaved to my emotion, I determined to take charge when issues arise. For example, I was pushed to the wall by a female colleague to the extent that I nearly talk back at her, but I remembered the vow, and behold I was able to overcome the temptation. Always be conscious of the fact that you are the one in charge and only you can walk yourself out of every situation.

  • Expect less from people. Having this monition that humans have weaknesses will help you to a large extent to expect nothing from them. In other words, Do not put your trust and hope on any human because they may fail you.

  • Another practical way of taking charge of your emotions, thoughts, and feelings is by self-development. This will help fight low self-esteem. I recall vividly some years back, I was so envious of my girlfriend then because I thought that she was seeing other guys who were better off than me therefore, I started developing low self-esteem. I fought it by working on myself till such thought vanished.

  • pursue your career. Nothing brings happiness and satisfaction to a person who's working in line with his / her purpose. A person of Purpose is preoccupied with strategies on how to achieve goals. With this, less effort is put into unnecessary things.

These are the few tips I applied to help control my feelings, thoughts, and emotions. Presently I take control of myself such that I know how and when to respond to things. I hope that this will be of great help to someone who needs help.

You have made some valuable points in your post here, and I can tell that you but thought into the question. Yes, we have control over our emotions, and it's our responsibility to accept that and take ownership of how we react in all situations that we are faced with.

On another note, I noticed an absence of photos/images in your blog. It might be a great idea to practice adding photos, or at least one that corresponds with your blog. I think that would enhance your blog greatly.
There are free sources for free downloadable images that can be found such as:

There are others too.

It's ideal when you use photos that you have taken yourself, however, if you should use photos from any of the sites mentioned, please make sure to add the relevant source, ok?

Emotions are like a double edged sword. They make you so strong but also play a great role in your downfall. It is also really difficult to put them on a leash but not impossible.
