My First Time Making a Collage, and for my little Cousin

Few weeks back, my older cousin asked me to make a collage of a woman and her child for his son.
It was really hard getting pictures of women and children in the papers, especially ones in the positions I wanted. What made the entire exercise strenuous was the fact that months back, my brother and I were renovating the house and in the process we burnt all old Magazines and Newspapers to create space.
I literally only had access to two newspapers from year 2000 and that was the resource material for the entire piece.

The Drawing Procedures

I started out cutting two entirely different mother faces, one with glasses and the other without. I initially wanted to blur out the glasses with blank paper but later changed my mind.

Finding a body was really hard and since I had limited material, I had to use one of an older woman in traditional clothing.

With the body attached, I went on to look for a child's head.

Funny how the only child that fit the position I needed was wearing a head gear...lol

I then added blank paper to cover the inaccuracy in the child's positioning, it wasn't as easy at it looked at the inception.

Another reason for adding the blank paper was to ensure that the traditional material would be adding soothed the position of the body

The sad thing was after spending hours sorting through cupboards and drawers searching for papers and finally piecing this together, young nephew was like ...Er...
I gues children would be children.
I'll try more of this collage once I get my hands on more materials and I'm 100% confident he would like it.
And as always, I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks for the visit friends.
