Trying Out a New Technique; 'A Vin Diesel Portrait'

Few months back,I got myself some portraits of Vin Diesel and among them was a quick pencil impression of him, a really cool one and I thought it would be nice earlier this week to replicate this.

It so happened that I got the technique to a great extent even though it was my first time but the resemblance, not so much. At this point, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that the technique is the driving force of this sketch and I would sincerely love to know your take on this.....
