Indian Cricket Team

The bilateral series between India and West Indies is ongoing. The Indian national cricket team is currently in West Indies to play two Tests, three ODIs and five T20Is. The first test match between the two teams has already been held. India won that match by 141 runs and an innings margin. Debutant batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal and bowling all-rounder Aswin gave incredible performances for India in this match. The team got a huge victory due to the outstanding performance of these two players.

In the first test match between India and West Indies, the host West Indies won the toss and decided to bat. They wanted to take advantage of the pitch and score good runs in the first innings. But they failed to implement their plans in the field. The West Indies batsmen couldn't stand in front of the spin bowling of India's two spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Ashwin.

The host West Indies lost three wickets before 50 while batting first. As a result, they were under pressure from the begging. The team was not able to overcome that pressure. West Indies lost wickets at regular intervals and were all out for 150 runs. Batter Alick Athanaze played the highest innings of 47 runs for the team. Apart from this player, no one could cross personal 20 runs. Ashwin took five wickets and another spinner Jadeja took three wickets for India in West Indies' first innings.

In response to West Indies' 150 runs, two openers came out to bat in the first innings and made a record. Captain Rohit Sharma and debutant Jaiswal helped their team to reach 200 very quickly. Jaiswal continued to play brilliantly at the other end even though captain Rohit departed after completing a personal century. Youngster Jaiswal is well supported by experienced player Virat Kohli. Jaiswal's incredible innings stopped at 171 runs. After his departure, India declared their first innings for 422 runs. As a result, their lead in the match is 250+ runs. No West Indies bowler has managed to take more than one wicket against India.

In their second innings, West Indies failed to overcome the lead given by India. In their 2nd innings, the team managed to score only 130 runs which is less than the first innings. As a result, the host West Indies lost by 141 runs and an innings. Ravichandran Ashwin, who took five wickets in the first innings, picked up seven wickets for India. Jadeja took three wickets in the first innings and picked up two wickets in the second innings.

Such a performance of the West Indies at their home ground isn't desirable at all. If this is the case in the first match, there is enough doubt about how the team's performance will be in the rest of the matches. There is still the rest of that series. Moreover, the team couldn't make it to the ODI World Cup due to their poor performance. Where teams like the Netherlands have qualified for the World Cup!
