🇪🇸 🇺🇸

🇺🇸 Good afternoon, community. Today I want to participate in the Ladies of Hive Community Contest #281. This is a topic that hits very close to home, so I wanted to take this opportunity to write a blog post to rant express myself about it.

Hello, it's me

˗ˏˋ ꒰ 🔸 ꒱ ˎˊ˗

Do you prefer working from home or going to the office? Why?

EL TRABAJO REMOTO ES INFINITAMENTE SUPERIOR. PUNTO.

CADA

DIA

REMOTE JOB IS SUPERIOR. PERIOD.

EVERY

SINGLE

DAY

I MISS IT

Well… yeah, that’s basically it. I truly believe remote work is better. In fact, I was working that way before it became popular during the pandemic.
I deeply wish to go back to designing, working in a multicultural remote team, with clear goals, respectful people, and being able to create cool things and getting paid well in dollars.

Why? Because with remote work, I found a functional balance in my life. I’ll explain that briefly.

YES. IN ALL CAPS AND BOLD. Although, there are some fine-print details.

One of the first things I was taught—and also learned firsthand when I started working remotely—is that balance is essential.

Being at home doesn’t mean you’re not working, but it also doesn’t mean doing 12-hour nonstop shifts until late at night, or being available all the time. That’s harmful both to your health and to your relationship with clients, because it creates a false expectation that you’re always available. Sooner or later, your body will force you to rest—usually through illness.

This leads to an important point: you need self-discipline and the ability to manage your own time. There won’t be a boss standing over you saying “get to work, I want to see you working,” or reminding you of deadlines. If you struggle to organize yourself or stay focused under a schedule you set for yourself, then remote work might not be for you.

In my personal case, when I had my remote job, I managed to build a routine that worked really well for me. I structured my days and weeks around work, exercise, cooking my own meals, going out, having one day off to clear my mind and reflect, going to therapy, and on top of that, I also worked on personal projects. I made time to play WoW with my friends, clean my home, and occasionally even take on extra projects to earn additional income.

That’s something I haven’t been able to achieve with the in-person jobs I’ve had, where commute times, low pay, and rotating schedules make it very hard to feel like you’re actually living, you’re just constantly surviving.

In short, having control over my time, without the need to commute, was what allowed me to achieve a healthy balance.

To wrap this up without making it too long: over time, I’ve understood that there are some jobs that simply can’t be done remotely, like the ones I’ve had: cashier, waiter, counter service, cleaning, barista, kitchen assistant.
But there are others that absolutely can be done remotely, like my previous graphic design job. And honestly, as my therapist once told me, that’s exactly what I studied for, and what I’m actively trying to get back to.

That’s why I’m actively working towards going back to a remote role that aligns with how I function best.

REMOTE JOB IS SUPERIOR. PERIOD.

Haha! This is frankly one of the coolest intro I've seen to a post. You said 'I'm gonna state the facts!' and you walked the talk with your writing. Great job! I support everything you've said and it's such a excellent post because while appreciating the benefits of remote work, you ensured to state the reasons why a physical job must exist. I enjoyed reading all of this. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us this week.🥰

Yes, I have experienced both sides of the coin when it comes to work, and I feel that remote work is the right fit for me. That’s why this LOH topic touched a sensitive nerve, it was the catalyst for me to start writing again and express my feelings through this medium. I really needed it.
Thank you for taking the time to be here 💖
