Letting go of this belief for this reason

I easily let go of things that I find not worthy to keep, when I was a child, even from my parents, I was told so many things, some which were true and others which i found out there were not true but i was told, so that to keep me in safety to when I grow up to be a man.

I do not like to be so long ago in my writing but it is better I brought this experience up so that to easily clarify my meaning of what I am trying to point out.

So, for a child like me who lived with his parents in a rural place that was covered by so many tall trees, buying of kerosene that was used in the lantern to see everywhere in the house was done by night, what I mean to say is, Mom, always sent me to go and buy kerosene from our mile away neighborhood at night, maybe, by that time she would be cooking the night meal in the kitchen.

In the family, everyone knows that when it comes to someone who would go and buy kerosene, no much suggestions should be made but I should be called to be on the way and get it home as soon as possible.

Mom, never for once talked to me about going to buy kerosene when the night is early, she would leave it at that early night time and around either eight or nine o'clock, she would asked me to go and buy it.

And it wasn't her alone who was fond of it, everyone does it, and that was, exactly nine or eight Pm, children of my age, as it was back then, where seen on the road, going out to buy kerosene.

Then, Mom always told me something which I should be careful of, on the road as I was going out, she told me never to look back but I should continue to walk straight until I reached home, because, if I looked back, I am going to see a ghost, and the ghost would do as if it's hunting me, so I shouldn't look back but, if possible, I should run there and run back home without wasting time.

I told you my people, never a time did I looked back, on the journey of buying kerosene at night, even when I have undergo the duty for so many years, I was never looking back a time. Then, I have grown up and I realize that, it was just nothing, because there are no ghost in the night, when you are looking back, Mom were using that idea to make me to be fast about my duty.
