A classic 1982 Movie: E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial

Growing up as a kid, I came across many cinematic movies that made a great impression on me. Back then, I tended to believe everything I saw on TV, and that is what made this movie classic.

The movie E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial is one of the best movies of its time, probably because of the story line, the message it passed, or because the actors were very good. The fact that it involves beings from another planet was what made me love the movie, because I am a lover of sci-fi movies.

This film story line is about a spaceship that came to earth with aliens in it. The aliens came down from the ship to observe earth, and while they were doing so, they left one of their kind behind in the forest without realizing it. The alien was fortunate to be discovered by a kind-hearted human boy (Elliot), who was willing to provide it with a home and keep it from governmental eyes. The alien was given the name E.T (Extra Terrestrial)

At first, he is frightened but soon realizes that E.T. is harmless and friendly. Elliott starts to develop a strong bond with the alien and decides to keep him hidden from his family and the authorities. Elliott introduces E.T. to his younger sister, Gertie, and older brother, Michael. One thing amazing about the alien is that it possesses some abilities, like healing and making things float.

E.T. learns about Earth through his interactions with the children and develops a longing to return home. Meanwhile, Elliott's family starts to notice strange occurrences, like objects moving on their own and a connection forming between Elliott and E.T.

Elliott's mother, Mary, becomes increasingly concerned and seeks help from a friendly scientist, Dr. Keyes, to investigate these events. As E.T. adapts to life on Earth, he forms a strong emotional bond with Elliott, and the two become inseparable.

With the help of Elliott's friends, they construct a device using household items to contact E.T.'s home planet and request a rescue. Nevertheless, E.T.'s condition starts to decline, and he becomes gravely ill. The reason is that his body structure was not built to adapt to the earth's environment, which means he has to go back to its planet. Elliott also experiences the same symptoms, revealing the profound connection between them.

In every movie, the government always discovery the aliens on earth, so it was only a matter of time for Elliot and E.T. The government agents, who have been tracking E.T., finally locate him and set up a quarantine zone around the house. In the climactic sequence, Elliott, Gertie, and Michael successfully dodge the agents and hurry E.T. to a remote location where they anticipate the return of his spaceship, but before this could happen, they had to wear a disguise for E.T and Elliot. Elliot got E.T into the basket in the front of his bicycle and started riding to the location where E.T spaceship would come pick it up. On their way, they were being chased but with E.T abilities, they were able to fly across the sky. This was one of the best scene in the movie.

This scene has been used by famous movie production as an introduction to their product.

With tears and heartfelt goodbyes, E.T. says farewell to his new human friends and boards the spaceship. The ship takes off, leaving Elliott and his family behind. The film ends with Elliott and his family reuniting, realizing the impact E.T. had on their lives. The movie is tale of friendship, love, and the power of connection between different worlds. It became one of the most successful and beloved films of all time, capturing the imaginations of audiences around the world.

One thing about the movie you should know is that E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial became a box office sensation, surpassing Star Wars to become the highest-grossing film of all time—a record it held for eleven years until Spielberg’s own Jurassic Park overtook it in 1993. The movie received critical acclaim and garnered nine Academy Award nominations, winning in several categories including Best Original Score, Best Visual Effects, Best Sound, and Best Sound Editing.

If you haven't watched this movie, I think you would love it if you do. This is a movie I watched years ago which left an imprint on me.

There are so many planets in our Galaxy that the presence of aliens there is very, very likely.

I don't know. But I am sure that they exist and most of them are much more technologically advanced than our civilization.
