Holiday: Midterm for workers

Do you know Nepal holds the record for the highest number of public holidays in the world, with a whopping 35 annually? I am sure workers in that country will be happy, but they have to work six days a week. Hello, I'm Fashtioluwa. Welcome to my blog.

There is one holiday I still do not fully understand as a worker, and that holiday is the Christmas holiday. The truth is that all workers are always looking forward to the general holidays because those are the only holidays that are given to workers; the rest of the days are meant for work or probably when they are on leave, which is the only time they also have to rest.

Now, let's talk about the Christmas holiday. I believe the holiday given for Christmas is never enough for workers. I don't know how common it is with other offices, but my previous office before I started working from home only gave their workers the 24th, 25th, and 26th as holidays, which meant they were to resume the 27th and continue their normal work. I don't agree with this holiday. I mean, it's the Savior's birthday, so why not give 2 weeks for the holiday? Or maybe that's too much; one week is okay for the holiday.

You know how students usually have a midterm break, both from junior high school to the university level, after they have studied for a long period of time.

Why can't that be included in our workplace? Forget the leave we get. I mean, a office that has a month known to the whole world as workers midterm. Each organization can choose the month or date for their own midterm or midwork day. I am sure many people can relate to what I am saying. Well, it's just my own opinion.

Never the less, I still can't get over the Christmas holiday, and why is it so short? Everyone is taking a long break during the December period; students are back home from the second week, and many educational institutes are rounding up, but workers are to resume on the 27th, and the only holiday for the new year that they have is only on the 1st of January, while on the 2nd they are to resume back to the office. I feel this is cheating on the workers. Capitalists really don't care much for their workers; the only thing they do to keep them working is give them a little incentive to keep their working morale high.

As a worker, I feel workers should have more free days that have been assigned to them—not a day workers day or normal general holiday, but a week to celebrate them and the impact they are making on the country's economy. These days should be set aside for them; a week or more should be fine to celebrate them.

Working on the date mentioned above While others are at home relaxing, it doesn't make sense. What will make more sense is having that holiday with other people and spending more time with family. The first week of January should be a week of holidays. period!.

Thanks for reading. Do have a great day.

Workers do deserve free days assigned to them, especially where I work I feel we deserve this break to spend some time with family and loved ones.

For real!
Workers are trying really hard and their wages aren’t even increased
Now they aren’t giving them days to spend with love ones

Do you know I agree with you?
Seriously, why only two days for the Christmas holiday?
Some workers are not allowed to rest even on workers day. Can you imagine.
Well, it is well.

My dad was even at work on the 24th and it was really painful to me to see him work so hard everytime even during the holidays.

Many companies don’t allow their worker observe holiday like Easter and little holidays that people are meant to spend at home. It’s disheartening

When I say they are heartless I mean it.
They don't have sympathy at all. All they care about is their business.

I agree with you, workers deserve free days assigned to them, especially during the Christmas period when they are given just three days to resume back to work. Even though they asked the workers to come to work early still yet there wages are too small.

Such is life. Workers have no say in business like this because when they talk, there is a high chance of them getting sacked

I agree with you that the public holiday should run from 24th of December to 2nd of January. Breaking such holidays to resume on 27th is like interrupting a deep sleep. I hope we get there someday

Your explanation give a deeper meaning to it
It’s really like cutting a deep sleep. I also agree with you
It should run for a longer period

back at home in the philippines, christmas holiday is only on 24th and 25th. then we a hero's day on the 30th, and newyear's holiday on 31st and 1st. and people usually just takes leaves in between those dates.

here in japan, christmas is a workday. holidays are usually from the 27th until 3rd of january for end/beginning of year holidays.

That’s not cool at all
You see why I said workers need a mid work break too cause it’s like there is no stopping when you start working

Unless you move to the other side of the world before you can rest

having lots of breaks means less profit for the owner though. gotta make that balance. it's just hard

Sure
That’s why I said 1week should be enough for break then resume

Like you said things should be done in moderation, even working too
