What you are about to read is a true-life story of how a lad fell in love at first sight and how it turned out to be.

Tioluwa was just a little boy who knew nothing about love, just a kid who still lived under his parents roof. He has never experienced any kind of opposite-sex love except for his parental love.

It was a Saturday morning, and the food that is prepared mostly on a Saturday in the Nigerians home is mostly pap and akara, or beans and bread. That morning, his mom asked him to go grind the beans in preparation for making the akara. As an obedient child, he set out to do as he was asked and passed the third street to get to his destination. It was in the third street that he met this little girl. She must have been his age mate or so; she was outside her house washing clothes. As he walked past, his eyes were fixed on her, and in that moment, she lifted up her head and found the little strange lad looking at her. She smiled, and Tioluwa waved at her, and she returned the wave. In that moment, the seed of love was planted in him.

You know how kids love genuinely without anything attached or expecting something in return? That was what must have happened that day.

Since that day, he could only think of her smile and how she waved back at him, even though they didn’t know each other or have spoken before. It was Monday, and it was time to go back to school for classes. After Tioluwa had prepared for school and was just waiting for his lunch box, he stood at the window and watched other students go to school. Then again, the innocent smile of this young lady got his eyes again. He remembered where he met her and wanted to go outside to say Hi, but she was in a hurry with her friends to get to her school.

After a year of just observing her, a new school was opened in their community, and parents were glad they didn’t have to send their kids far away to study again. Luck was on Tioluwa's side; after he registered at the new school, he found himself in the same class as the lady he had been observing for years.

He was very excited. After resumption, he asked for her name, and they became friends. The kind of love he had for her was pure love, not the kind that generated lust. He just wanted the best for her; he was always jealous when other guys got to do things for her, so he became more serious with his studies because he wanted to impress her. He takes two drinks to school just to give her one. Whenever his dad got him a gift or chocolate, he would keep some for her because he wanted her to have the same thing he was having. It was love and nothing more; it was the seed that was planted in his heart since that Saturday morning that has germinated to this level.

Some people called him a fool because he always did what she asked him to do, even when he knew she was clearly using him. He wanted his action to express the love he had for her; probably she would understand, but she didn’t. It was very clear that it was a one-sided love, but it was a great love.

Shortly after high school, he decided to confess his feelings to her. It took all the courage he had in him to ask her to date him, but in the cool of the evening, when he asked her, she gave him the biggest shock of his life. She never loved him the way he loved her. He became really sick after that event, but he never gave up. He went after her twice every year until he finally gave up and decided to be her close friend. He still loves her, but now as a friend, he would do anything for her because she was his first love, and it was love at first sight.

Love at first sight do exist but hardly lasts. You felt love for her but she didn't feel the same way.

Is this real or fiction?

I don't believe in love at first sight and you only got attracted to her the first time.

Love doesn't just spring out of nowhere, it starts with likeness, attraction and others. It develops from these things but most times, people aren't patient enough to analyze what the feeling is before concluding that it is love.

Love at first sight is real. Like you said, you might not realize its love at first because you will start with liking and would always want to be with that person since the first time you met them.
love at first sight isnt too complicated the way we see it . it not that you would just love the person straight up.

The funny fact is that, its not a must love at first sight end with a happy ending. It love we are talking about and anything might happen.

what if they both love each other and it wasnt a one sided love but one of the lover bird dies. it still ended bad. so anything can happen when it involves love

I would like to disagree with you when you say its an infatuation.
it might look like infatuation but its not because even look at first sight needs time to grow.
It would start from liking the person and as time goes it turns to love and if its reciprocated its good.
the love our parent even have for us is love at first sight too.

for adult, it would take time to grow but you will just like the person since the first day you met them and even if you arent together anymore you will still love them.

I wouldn't call that love. Obsession maybe. She told him straightforwardly that she doesn't feel the same way. And he should respect that. I understand that some girls like to be chased and stuff, but here I don't see any room for love. If he truly loved her, and wanted her to be happy - he should leave her be.

Unfortunately love is blind, and it is very easy to talk about it, but in real life it is really hard make reasonable decisions:)

You read my mind to this love at first sight thing.. When it happened at a young age.. Its mostly genuine.
You would just want to do things for the person without wanting anything.. Even if they dont end up dating or so.. The feelings of deep friendship will always remain

It's not myopic, it depends on whom and when. I understood perfectly from your end though and I also believe in first sight but it's overrated these days. For instance, you said when they were little. You see children's love last longer than adult first-sight love because they know nothing of give and take, dos and don'ts, what they know then was true, natural, and undiluted love.

Time can tell if tell stay forever but if they have embraced themselves for a long time and passed through the ups and downs of life and parental guidance they can surely withstand the adult stage cause they have familiarized themselves.

They didn't build a consistent connection, they meet once in a while.
