Cutting and Sewing of a kimono dress🤗
Hi hive
Beautiful day to you all. Hope We're all doing great and well? Today's about tutorial of a simple dress called kimono.
Kimono is a free dress/gown that's is cut together with the sleeve (has no armhole cuts) and sewn with straight seams and has little to no cutting when making. It's originally known with the Japanese buh has been sewn widely now, only they are sewn differently (the patterns). Kimono can sometimes be open in the front and it'll be secured with a rope or sometime it can b closed seam (depends on preference).
This particular one has opening in the center front and will b secures with a rope and that will means it'll overlap and this is how to cut it
Take the needed fabric
and fold into four equal parts considering the required length u're working with like this
Measure from the center across the shoulder to the required sleeve length, whatever u av Shud b marked on the fabric
The bust circumference plus at least 2-3 inches should be added and marked also
Lastly draw a line connecting the sleeve length to the bust and down to the gown length (It can be marked straight down from the bust or make it wider as it gets lower to the gown length (depends)) then cut out the excess like these
After everything u should have something like this as your results
I'm slashing open my center front
It can then be transferred to the sewing machine for the straight seams and sometimes tapping the neck down and our kimono dress is ready to be worn

Tapping the neck and folding the length was off camera (my bad😞)
