Marion's smile slipped off her face.
Perhaps I should have chosen my words with more care, Kira thought, biting her lip.
"He's been through a lot," Marion said. "He was just getting his life together and then this happens." Marion went into one of the stalls and Kira heard her raise the toilet seat. "His mother was a dear. It's true, Jasper has always been a little odd. Even as kids, he wasn't one of my favourite cousins. And he has made some rather questionable decisions."
Kira didn't say anything. From the stall, Kira could hear the flow of urine splash into the toilet. She waited for her friend to continue.
"But I think he always meant well. And for his mother to be attacked like that..."
The story fell into Kira's conscious from the cupboard in her mind where she had filed it. Marion's aunt had been mugged. Kids, the police said, after some money. Marion's aunt wasn't one to give in to other people's demands. She was stabbed, and her bag ripped from her hands.

As usual I wrote the freewrite in five minutes using themostdangerouswritingapp.com and then copied and pasted it into a googledoc, tied it up a bit.
