Autumn (Leaves)

2.JPG

we were like children
picking up different leaves
different colors
and felt the surge
of youthful kindling
warming up inside of us

1.JPG

3.JPG

red
yellow
orange
dried leaves crack in our palms
as we crush them
into confetti
that we throw on the sidewalk
imagining a wedding of epic proportions

4.JPG

5.JPG

yet we hide
our faces from each other
in a youthful hide-and-seek
beneath the crush confetti leaves
we find our written vows
in a language we do not yet speak

6.JPG

7.JPG

it is autumn
and we dress in the colors
of the leaves
assorted memories
burn
yearn
forever a reminder
of yesterday

8.JPG

9.JPG

we were like children
leaving behind
trails of our existence
the red leaves of autumn
in the hope
that someone might follow
our hopes and dreams

10.JPG

11.JPG

your dreams turned yellow and red
for the night was long
and we did not know
what tomorrow might hold
you picked up a leaf
and closed your eyes
for the nightmare might
never begin

12.JPG

13.JPG

confetti leaves
sprinkled in your hair
the promises we kept
now merely crushed leaves
in our palms

Postscriptum

We were children running around in the streets. They looked at us like we were crazy, but we could not care less.

14.JPG

The leaves turned this amazing color and @urban.scout pulled me out of the room to take these photographs. We returned to our youth.

15.JPG

In any case, I hope you enjoyed this post filled with my strange poetry. I felt inspired by a line or two and the words just kept flowing.

16.JPG

Keep well, and happy photographing!

All of the photographs are my own, taken with my Nikon D300 and Nikkor 50mm lens. The poetry and writing are also my own creations.

Thank you so much! All the credit to mother nature and her splendid display of colors. It is truly a magical moment (period) in the year when all of the trees decide to change color. Thanks again!

Another poem for the future poetry collection that is still to find its way onto the pages of a book. You inspire me to write and I will always adore your poetry. I love you dearly, @fermentedphil

Thank you so much! In due time we will publish (either self or via publisher) these poems with the photography or sketches! But your poetry needs to fill those pages as well, as your writing is far superior to mine (in my opinion).

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. The poetry seemed to just arise from my own gaze at the photographs. I am glad that the pairing worked. Enjoy the rest of the week!

You're very welcome! I've taken a break from baking but plan on starting up again soon. How are your studies going?

Oh the studies are the cause of my baking hiatus. I have made some flatbreads, but I do not count them as baking. I am going to bake some loaves this weekend if all goes to plan.

I hope that your baking endeavors are going to go down smoothly. Is the sourdough starter still alive and well? And are you well?

Ahh, I hope the flatbread turns out well!

I haven’t baked since late-February. We’re doing a lot of traveling this year so I’ll have to get a new sourdough starter going once our trips are done later this year. All is great on this end! Enjoy your weekend and best of luck with your studies!

I baked some sourdough loaves this morning! Wish I could share via here.

Thank you so much, and best of luck with the travelling and starting the sourdough again! It is luckily a skill you cannot really lose once you have it.

Pictures and poetry. A perfect blend made wonderfully by you to create a dazzling mix of creativity and passion. I loved how each line wove into the next and the beautiful scenery and equally gorgeous girl completed the ensemble. Well-done.

Oh wow, thank you so much, my friend! I really appreciate it. It is strange sometimes how the poetry just comes as if from nowhere. I think someone once said something in the lines of: Poetry is like the wind; it can suddenly come out of nowhere and hit you in the face, you need to write it down immediately otherwise it will be lost, like the wind that dies out as quickly as it appeared.

I think the person that said it hit the mark quite precisely. There have been several times some words of poetry filtered into my mind and then I make a mental note to write the words down but when I'm ready, those words are lost forever.

It's just so wonderful that I got to read it so I thank you for sharing.✨

Oh yes, so many poems, so many short stories, so many ideas, have died with us not writing them down immediately. It is sad but also poetically beautiful how fleeting they are.

Thanks again!

Wow, this made my heart feel a bit sad. In a good way, but still. The part where you mention that we are all like children leaving behind everything in our trail of existence hoping someone will follow our dreams.. I see that as a hope that we will follow our own dreams. That inner child is running around giving as a path, we just need to see it and follow it.

Exactly like that! Wow, I did not even think about it in that way. Our younger selves (from the future for a bit of a sci-fi twist) are leaving a trail of hopes and dreams behind for our current selves to follow. Thanks for the close reading!!

Thank you so much, my friend! I really appreciate it. Sometimes the words and poetry just match the photographs perfectly.
