Shark Tank vs Dragon's Den Greece

Shark Tank or Dragon's Den, depending on where you live is a TV show around investments. The idea is to have a set of 4-5 actual investors that will get to see entrepreneurs presenting their ideas to them in order to achieve some form of investment.

For example, let's say you have an idea like flying cars or something. You go on the show to present your idea, you have a couple of minutes to do your presentation in front of the investors and then you ask the amount of money that you want and ofc say what you offer in exchange, like a percentage of your company.

Ofc the investors then will try the product if they want to and ask more relevant questions. If they like it, they will make an offer and should the entrepreneur accept it, they will try together to make the company more valuable.

Now the show is quite popular in many countries, with USA being one of them. Shark Tank and Dragon's Den are pretty much the same, Dragon's Den is the original name of the show but ofc the Americans wanted to look cooler and decided on a different name.

In America, the show is so popular that is currently in its 15 season. Also note, that in many of the shows, the investors are actually well-known people in the business world with millions or even billions of dollars of net worth, like Mark Cuban for example.

Now the show came to Greece last year and it's currently in its second season. The investors are also people with big companies or lots of money and some seem quite knowledgable as well. As a big fan of the show that has watched all of the seasons of the Shark Tank i can say that i see some differences between that one and the Greek one.

Don't get me wrong i am quite excited that we have a TV show like that, as we really have quite low-level shows on TV and mostly nobody watches TV nowadays as well. So the main differences that i spotted are two. The first one is that they tried to bring some form of reality into it which i hate. Like for example one investor says something to the other and the other decides to leave the set furious.

After a while, they get all friendly again. I don't think that people who managed to reach that economic level will get butthurt with a phrase and will stand up and leave. Anyways, the second one is that the "level" of entrepreneurs is quite low in Greece, or at least those that go to the show.

What i mean the level is low, is that most of the ideas are not something unique or interesting, i have seen these ideas both in Sharnk thank and in my everyday life, what i am trying to say is that their products already exist and they don't do something new.

Also, most entrepreneurs have no idea of how to do a proper business plan and valuation of the company. They all think that their company is worth millions of dollars while at the same time, they have something like 10000 to 100000 euros in sales (not profit). Some even have no sales and a prototype and value their company to 5-10 million.

The interesting thing is that this isn't only due to their lack of knowledge in economics. It's actually a generic vibe i see in my country, that everyone thinks he is at the top and deserves everything let's say the richest people have, even though he/she lacks in a lot of aspects.

Overall, the Greek show is interesting, ofc not even close to the level of the American one but it brings a fresh vibe and maybe we all can learn something new instead of watching Survivor for example!
