Friday Files: little to show and a rainbow

I had planned a short day in the kitchen. Theoretically, and technically, I had done a lot of yesterday's list on Monday. I had a list of other things to do. Funny how things turn out: I ended up in the kitchen all day, and longer than usual. So much so, that a certain feline was terribly impatient:

As the title of this post suggests, it was also a rainbow day. I couldn't get the entire bow in one photo, but I did get both ends. Here's the other.

It was a dark, windy, stormy Friday.

The masked weavers love nectar in the flowers of the kokerboom (tree aloe/quiver tree).

I actually managed to catch one on the job. Through the sitting room door.

So, to my market list, and in addition to the usual sourdough buns: two soups: real chicken and gingered carrot (vegan). Along with vegan garlic mayo (aioli), homemade cottage cheese. Then, new to this week's stock, the lemon marmalade and hand cut cheese to cut and wrap. Why that filled my entire day, I am damned if I know.

Finally, it was time to do supper:

Sometimes the least attractive meals are the best bowls of comforting warmth. This is a winter favourite and one of the first entirely plant-based meals to which I introduced The Husband: spinach (actually, Swiss chard from the garden) dahl and Bombay potatoes.

The leftovers often become lunch and/or part of an omelette.

As I sit doing this cheeky entry to @dswigle's #marketfriday, the wind is blowing. Not howling. Yet. It's going to be a cold, blustery market this morning.

Until next time, be well

What a lovely rainbow! Both sides of it! It doesn't look like winter at all. Wait six months or so and I will show you a real winter, where there may or may not be snow. We didn't have any last year, but, that isn't a dependable thing. Your dinner looks divine. I love warm bowls of yumminess. I have lots of vegan dinners/lunches and we all love them here.

Ah,Denise, I know we don't have the same winters as you do, but because they are short, we're not geared for them. And I just don't do cold very well. Give me the heat. Any day. 🤗🌞👒
