An un-February day

Yesterday was very un-February like. Dark, damp and very, very cool. And it rained. The weather people didn't keep their thunderstorm promise. This time of year, we're supposed to be sweltering. Like we did a week ago.

It was so dark, I had the kitchen light on all day. When I planned last night's supper, I suspected it would be chilly, but not as chilly as it was. I was not unhappy to come home from our usual Friday outing, to put on the oven and prepare pizza.

First up, one of our favourites: a made-up combination of tatziki, red onion and home cured bacon.

The second, a little more traditional and varies each time, depending on what we have - and the season. Last night it was mushroom, olive and peppers.

Pizza: cooked and being enjoyed.

The more traditional one misses my home made passata. We'll have to wait - probably a couple of months, p'raps less - before I get to start the 2023 edition of the Tomato Diaries. In some ways, I cannot wait. In others, it'll probably come too soon. Never satisfied, are we?

It was so cool that Pearli was home all day and in search of a lap which could only be obliged after pizza supper.

Having the oven on most of the day, unlike a week ago, was no hardship.
