Friday Files - almost in the mustard

I had a week that I thought was going to be crazy: it was. At one point I thought I'd not get through everything. Deadlines and then mother decided she was going on strike. Or thought she was. I began to be a little anxious on Wednesday when she wasn't quite pulling her weight. On Thursday morning I was still concerned so I split the mixture into two jars and fed them both and literally told the b*tch she couldn't die on me.

I fed them both MoFos again at lunch time and by the evening - after a somewhat fraught afternoon (because, on top of that, I got a quick, very fast job to do), they were good enough to start Saturday's rolls.

The mustard?

Yes, you may well ask. And yes, those are mustard seeds in the first photo. They're the beginning of a batch of wholegrain mustard. It's brewing and I've not potted it yet. Expect the rest of that story when I do.

This week, in lentils were in the jar again. Still Mediterranean, but from the northern side of the sea: with parsley, dill, tomatoes, cucumber and olives. Dressed with a wholegrain mustard vinaigrette and topped with fresh basil. I was rather delighted with the result and look forward to our Monday meat free meal when at least one jar will be the hero!

The day ended with pizza after a visit to the local. One, our usual, madeup one of tzatziki, bacon slivers and red onion.

My wannabe flammkuchen.

The second, somewhat more traditional:

I opened the last of the 2022 batch of passata for the base (there's still some left) and on top of that we had some of this week's mushroom mixture, pickled olives and sweet red peppers.

Topped with the traditional mozzarella and fresh, chopped marjoram, it was a supper fit for royalty.

Oh, and at the local, I bumped into the new client who declared himself very happy with the work I'd done - by Thursday's deadline. And he's muttering about future work.

So, a good end to a very hectic week.

Until next time, be well

If this post might seem familiar, it's because I'm doing two things:

  • re-vamping old recipes. As I do this, I am adding them in a file format that you can download and print. If you download recipes, buy me a coffee. Or better yet, a glass of wine....?
  • and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts.
I blog to the Hive blockchain using a number of decentralised appplications.
  • From Wordpress, I use the Exxp Wordpress plugin. If this rocks your socks, click here or on on the image below to sign up.
