June Power up Day is in three days' time

June PUD ahead .jpg

A month ago, I wrote -

looking into May, there's a hill to climb. How steep? I'm not sure. I hope, though, it's not as deceptively steep as the road up hill and which I see every day from my office window.

The last month has been exceedingly difficult - more for The Husband than for me. A week ago, I thought we had come a some way from this. As I write, The Husband starts day 28 in ICU and is in his fifth week in hospital. There was another setback this week but it seems that things are moving forward. Very slowly.

This means that the mountain view, and that road continues to be my daily view as I approach the hospital to spend some time with him. I do most of the talking because he is still intubated (now with a tracheostomy) which means he has no voice. Lip reading is not my strength and we're beginning to be able to use an alphabet chart to "talk". At least that way, he can tell us what he needs.

All that's a long way of saying that I'm still AFK and shall be for a while. I am having to find a new rhythm for my life which, when - and I have to believe in when - The Husband comes home, will have to change. Again.

Truth be told, I need to be posting more because with the price of petrol, I need to be earning to be able to afford the trips and to pay the bills. However, The Husband's state of mind is more important. Somehow I'll cope and, in the end, we'll manage.

In the meantime...

Power of three

Despite all this the commitment of power of three (Silver Blogging Women) which began last July, continues.

The beneficiaries of our delegations are selected from accounts that participate in #HivePud, and who Traci identifies with the help of, as she calls him, numbers man @abh12345.

When Traci is about to publish her final results post, she also sends me a list of accounts that meet the basic criteria of age and HP, and then I go through them to see if they meet the additional criteria (see below).

The May Hive Power Up Day is approaching

All that's a very long-winded way of saying that for May - and 2023 - my usual delegation of 100 HP will go ahead and, as has become customary, that delegation will be tripled by matching delegations from @lizelle and @coquicoin. That means 300 HP each to redfish accounts that meet the basic Power Up Day Criteria as well as these additional criteria:

Eligible accounts must also be -

  • be less than 6 months old
  • have at least two qualifying posts since the previous power up day.
Posts that qualify must have 200 words or more and exclude posts for Power Up Day, as well as which are specific to Actifit and gaming.
  • a reputation of less than 61
  • not more than 500 HP in their accounts before they power up - both on the first of the month

As a reminder, the the second criterion is because Hive is a community -

Hive is a social blockchain: it's for socialising, ruminating and just generally hanging out.

A note -

We noted in our March delegation post that our criteria are under review. Partly because of lower than usual participation. We have made no decisions in this regard. For all of us, RL has sent us a few curved balls, so we'll wait for things to unfold.

And that's not all -

Every account that participates in Power Up Day, and does so regularly, stands a chance of receiving a delegation from @hivebuzz - in addition to a bee badge. Check this out for the full buzz.

Now, back to our contribution:

What happens if no accounts qualify?

Thanks for asking, and yes it does happen. I don't make decisions on my own, so if, as has happened in the past, there are "slim pickings", the three of us put our heads together, working via Traci who is also with the @ocd and @lovesniper noob curation initiatives. What will also not change, and which began in June is working with @zakludick to identify deserving members of his growing activity group.

The three of us make a joint decision about the accounts that are ultimately supported.

Delegating is not enough (speaking for myself)

Remember that in addition to the delegations, I add these accounts to my fanbase so that they receive a daily 100% upvote (if my voting power is still more than 90%; if it's not, I do try to manually upvote (qualifying) posts.

That's my intention, but as I've mentioned, RL is getting the better of my virtual one at the moment. This is also why I ask @ginabot (she's not functioning on all cylinders) my bot Friday to notify me each time they post. If I have an opportunity, I do pop over and have a gander and, occasionally, either weigh in on whatever the post may be about, and/or reblog it.

Also, @coolmidwestguy, @strega.azure and @bemier I will be cancelling delegations to you so that I can allocate the HP to three new redfish. So if your wallet suddenly shrinks by 100HP, that's why.

See you on Hive Power Up Day, 1 June 2023

PS Thank you for @doze for that lovely text divider. Do pop over and check out his posts for fabulous free-to-use Hive graphics and animations.

Until next time, be well

If this post might seem familiar, it's because I'm doing two things:

  • re-vamping old recipes. As I do this, I am adding them in a file format that you can download and print. If you download recipes, buy me a coffee. Or better yet, a glass of wine....?
  • and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts.
I blog to the Hive blockchain using a number of decentralised appplications.
  • From Wordpress, I use the Exxp Wordpress plugin. If this rocks your socks, click here or on on the image below to sign up.

  • lastly, graphics are created using partly my own photographs, images available freely available on @hive.blog and Canva.

Nope, please don't worry about me now, as you guys are in a worse situation, and you have to stay strong.
It is terrible to have to go through these things, and it can really sap one's emotions and strength.
All blessings to your efforts and we hope that the hubby will get well soon.

Sending love and good wishes, @fionasfavourites. Really hoping your husband pulls through fine and is fully out of the danger zone and on the mend son! I'm sorry for all you have been through. What a wild journey. Crossing fingers and toes that he will make a full recovery.
