Mad, mole cat

Part cat, part ahem...mole? Either way, it doesn't matter: Gandalf burrows and loves to be buried in the blanket where he holes up against the cold.

On cold evenings, he plants himself between his two humans and retreats from the world. When we retire, he doesn't move so we "fold" him away.

The other evening, he must have been really feeling the cold because instead of curling up between us, on the blanket, he burrowed behind it. When The Husband got up to get something, this was all I could see of him:

This is how he leaves his messy nest.

The couch is not the only battleground. On particularly cold nights he wakes me up, demanding to be let under the covers. Then, when it's time to get up, he can't wait for me to go. Once I've got out of the warm bed, actually, sometimes before I've even lifted my rear from the bed, he's tightly curled up against the pillow.

That morning, I decided I had to make the bed around him and this was the result.

Twelve cats have deigned to share their space with me over the last 35 years. They have all been different characters and Gandalf is one of the few I've had since he was a kitten. There are things we thought he'd outgrow in the last six or so years. He has not. The whippy tail and the burrowing are just two of them. I guess we have to accept that he'll have these kittenish foibles into his dotage never mind ours!

Until next time, be well

If this post might seem familiar, it's because I'm doing two things:

  • re-vamping old recipes. As I do this, I am adding them in a file format that you can download and print. If you download recipes, buy me a coffee. Or better yet, a glass of wine....?
  • and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts.
I blog to the Hive blockchain using a number of decentralised appplications.
  • From Wordpress, I use the Exxp Wordpress plugin. If this rocks your socks, click here or on on the image below to sign up.

Oh my word, Gandalf looks like the king of the castle, all nicely tucked in. I would also become a mole during those cold Cape nights!
Soon, we will be complaining about the heat, I'm really not looking forward to it!
Have a lovely Sunday Fiona🤗

Hahaha! Yes, he does that, too. Usually sitting on my chest, staring (me) down at me, willing one of us to get up and feed him. He's a bit of a weight, and that's also not a picture for a public platform!

I am not enjoying the cold and cannot wait for the warmer weather. We have to agree to differ on that! lol

Enjoy your Sunday!

I really don't mind the Cape in summer but the humidity here just kills me! I need to migrate as the seasons change!

Hahaha that's so funny Fiona, what a happy cat. I hope you're doing ok under the current historic load shedding lol.

Wishing you well from the Garden Route.

Ah, thank you, Julian. We do not talk about that here.

Warm greetings from the chilly edge of the Karoo!
