Moxican

Last night's supper was nearly a disaster. For my sins, I administer a WhatsApp group that is intended to warn - alert - the members about the potential of a crime or criminal activity. If you read this post and some of my others, you'll know that I live in a little village where, it seems, everyone knows everyone. Crime happens in every community... However, this group is not for chatting. Thank heavens. I hate those and it's one of the reason that my phone is permanently muted. Last night, let's just say that things got a little out of hand after a post in error during the morning that resulted in banter between some members and which should have stayed between friends. A person, and a victim of crime, not in their inner circle, took umbrage and things blew up!

Let's just say that there was much hurumphing and flouncing and the equivalent of doors slamming as people left. My partner in crime fellow admin weighed in and curtailed things. However, not before I'd had a slew of private messages.

Consequently: the onions and peppers ended up being scorched rather than seared. Happily, not all was lost. I'd not added the cooked chicken...

I had wanted to make fajitas. It was already pitch dark and I needed herbs and chilli and...I was running late. It was the seasonings that were a problem - or more accurately - the combination of seasonings that was challenging me.

Plan B

I thought carefully about what was in the fridge and at hand without having to find a light, a coat or brave the cold night air.

The plan: a pinch of herbes de Provence and a dollop of homemade harissa. Somewhere, I thought I'd posted a recipe. It must be on that to do list of promises...

The result: more than satisfactory and served on homemade flour tortillas.

I have nicknamed this combination of Texmex and, Moroccan and Mediterranean, Moxican... I'll be remembering it for when I need rescuing in future.

Until next time, be well

If this post might seem familiar, it's because I'm doing two things:

  • re-vamping old recipes. As I do this, I am adding them in a file format that you can download and print. If you download recipes, buy me a coffee. Or better yet, a glass of wine....?
  • and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts.
I blog to the Hive blockchain using a number of decentralised appplications.
  • From Wordpress, I use the Exxp Wordpress plugin. If this rocks your socks, click here or on on the image below to sign up.

Well done on thinking in your feet to rescue dinner. I hope your group doesn't normally have much activity, being an admin takes up so much energy!

I started a crime watch group for our road some time back and had to put a stop to those chats; the late good night & early good morning messages were really an irritation! My co-admin & I had to warn those people a couple of times as it's meant for crime & suspicious activity reporting! When someone indignantly said they're just being neighbourly, we told them to start a friendship group, 1 or 2 left. But really! It should be an alert or it would be a waste of time!
It takes a real cook to save the day!

Your food always looks so darn good! Even if the onions got scorched, just adds a bit more flavor :p

Also, Hello again my friend! Long time no see :D
