Only three more Hive Power Up Days left in 2022

October PUD ahead .jpg

The change of seasons has brought with it a very unhappy world. I don't know anyone, in the Hive, in RL, anywhere that's not complaining about the cost of living. Then there are the events in Russia which, I fear, will have world consequences. Mercury's also been in retrograde with lots of funny universal energy adding to what happens when seasons (climate and life) change.

Last month, I was kind of down. Not just about crypto, but about everything. This month, I've decided that I must (like all of us), put my chin up and get on with things. I'm trying to rearrange my head. Ha! I've been looking for signs that things will be better. I did get one: the wisteria we planted eleven - yes, eleven years ago, presented us with her first ever blooms. To celebrate, I decided to incorporate my only picture (hard to photograph because of the angle) into this month's banner. To say that I'm thrilled is an understatement. I'd almost given up. For the plant people to say that they're slow "show-ers" is more than an understatement. What they don't say, though, is that you can wait what feels like an eternity for their first flowers. Do you know that wisteria flowers (not pods) are edible?

I'm digressing...

The point is, that patience (coupled with a little bit of faith and, I admit, drought neglect) pays off. It has been the same for me in my now more than five year crypto social blockchain blogging journey which is only now really bearing fruit - even in a crypto winter.

and if you followed all of that...I'm happy for you, because I'm not sure I did... and it's definitely not financial advice 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Anyhow, regardless of my mood, the power of three (Silver Blogging Women) remains consistent.

The beneficiaries of our delegations are selected from accounts that participate in #HivePud, and who Traci identifies with the help of, as she calls him, numbers man @abh12345.

When Traci is about to publish her final results post, she also sends me a list of accounts that meet the basic criteria of age and HP, and then I go through them to see if they meet the additional criteria (see below).

The third last Hive Power Up Day of 2022 is approaching

All that's a very long-winded way of saying that for October, my usual delegation of 100 HP will go ahead and, as has become customary, that delegation will be tripled by matching delegations from @lizelle and @coquicoin. That means 300 HP each to redfish accounts that meet the basic Power Up Day Criteria as well as these additional criteria:

Eligible accounts must also be -

  • be less than 6 months old
  • have at least two qualifying posts since the previous power up day.
Posts that qualify must have 200 words or more and exclude posts for Power Up Day, as well as which are specific to Actifit and gaming.
  • a reputation of less than 61
  • not more than 500 HP in their accounts before they power up - both on the first of the month

As a reminder, the the second criterion is because Hive is a community -

Hive is a social blockchain: it's for socialising, ruminating and just generally hanging out.

And that's not all -

Every account that participates in Power Up Day, and does so regularly, stands a chance of receiving a delegation from @hivebuzz - in addition to a bee badge. Check this out for the full buzz.

Now, back to our contribution:

What happens if no accounts qualify?

Thanks for asking, and yes it does happen. I don't make decisions on my own, so if, as has happened in the past, there are "slim pickings", the three of us put our heads together, working via Traci who is also with the @ocd and @lovesniper noob curation initiatives. What will also not change, and which began in June is working with @zakludick to identify deserving members of his class of 2022 and potentially, noobs in the Hive South Africa community.

The three of make a joint decision about the accounts that are ultimately supported.

Delegating is not enough (speaking for myself)

Remember that in addition to the delegations, I add these accounts to my fanbase so that they receive a daily 100% upvote (if my voting power is still more than 90%; if it's not, I do try to manually upvote (qualifying) posts.

That's my intention, but as I've mentioned, RL is getting the better of my virtual one at the moment. This is also why I ask @ginabot to notify me each time they post. If I have an opportunity, I do pop over and have a gander and, occasionally, either weigh in on whatever the post may be about, and/or reblog it.

Also,@ayane-chan, @cthings and @iwannabeme, I will be cancelling delegations to you in the next couple of days to be able to allocate the HP to three new redfish.

See you on Hive Power Up Day, 1 September 2022.

PS Thank you for @doze for that lovely text divider. Do pop over and check out his posts for fabulous free-to-use Hive graphics and animations.

Until next time, be well

If this post might seem familiar, it's because I'm doing two things:

  • re-vamping old recipes. As I do this, I am adding them in a file format that you can download and print. If you download recipes, buy me a coffee. Or better yet, a glass of wine....?
  • and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts.
I blog to the Hive blockchain using a number of decentralised appplications.
  • From Wordpress, I use the Exxp Wordpress plugin. If this rocks your socks, click here or on on the image below to sign up.

  • Join Hive using this link and then join us in the Silver Bloggers' community by clicking on the logo.

Original artwork: @artywink
    • I am participating in the twice-yearly initiative to post a blog a day for a month on the Hive blockchain.

    • I also share my occasional Instagram posts to the crypto blockchain, Hive.

Awesome Fiona, great to hear your thoughts. I appreciate the link. Yes it is a time of uncertainty and downtrend in crypto and in the world generally, so hang in there. You are doing great work on Hive, setting a great example.

Much appreciated.

Very kind of you, Julian. We just soldier on, don't we?

Hope you're surviving the ubiquitous loadshedding...

With all of the negative stuff going on around the globe, sometimes it's difficult to remain positive about things.
I don't worry about things that I can't control and most of what is going on in this world I have no say in.
Life is short and it's getting shorter with every passing day. The things that do concern me are limited to the health and happiness of my family. When things are not as they should be with those I love, then I worry. These things I may be able to help out with, but even then it may be impossible to rectify.

Despite all the problems, the unhappy world, and the crypto winter, I am so thankful for what I have found on Hive. And without giving any advice to anyone either, hehe I think is a good time to try to accumulate some tokens. I love your banner with your wisteria in bloom and I didn't know its flowers were edible.

Also @ayane-chan, @cthings, and @iwannabeme Please note that I am canceling my delegations to you now, to free up resources for the next HivePUD.

I hope everyone is getting ready for the October HivePUD:)
