Pushing the boat out

Now, I've got your attention...

IMG_20220927_061227_112.jpg

Last night's meatless Monday supper was an all market affair. Having bought in stock for boerewors rolls, and using only a third of them, I have lots left. I have frozen some and last night I turned half a dozen into crostini and, for supper, salad boats.

The hero was Saturday's in-the-jar salad offering: I'd made extra and even though I'd sold some, I was relieved to bring some home. I had plans for it!

Under the Asian salad, I spread another of my products that comes our of a jar: hummus.

Clearly not this Saturday's batch, but one of my stock pics

Finally a generous squeeze of lemon and more on the side in case.

It worked and I shall remember how "pushing out the boat" came to my "rescue".

Speaking of Saturday's market...

One of the village's talented (and professional photographers was swanning around, there are lots of photos of the weekend.

I want to take one of the two of you...

He insisted.

I'm not sorry.

Until next time, be well

If this post might seem familiar, it's because I'm doing two things:

  • re-vamping old recipes. As I do this, I am adding them in a file format that you can download and print. If you download recipes, buy me a coffee. Or better yet, a glass of wine....?
  • and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts.
I blog to the Hive blockchain using a number of decentralised appplications.
  • From Wordpress, I use the Exxp Wordpress plugin. If this rocks your socks, click here or on on the image below to sign up.

  • lastly, graphics are created using partly my own photographs, images available freely available on @hive.blog and Canva.

I normally freeze my left over boerie rolls and use them to make garlic bread!

The rest are in the deep freeze - either for garlic bread or some other creation... I'm trying not to eat commercial bread, though!!

@therneau makes the most AMAIZING sour dough. I must admit I'm a bit lazy when it comes to bread making, but store bought bread really is so sad. I think I just need to find one I enjoy making?

Sourdough is an addictive journey. My culture is just short of 2,5 years old. What I don't sell at the market, we eat. I make naan bread and pitas, too. It has made a huge difference to being able to eat bread. Commercial bread is full of so much crap. I haven't, unless I have absolutely had to, eaten it for going on 5 years!!! Actually, I should write about that journey... here endeth the lesson 🤣🤣

Lovely salad mix, so convenient to keep for backup and tasty, most definitely a little of this and little of that makes the best treat ever.

Excellent photograph of you two at the market stand, a keeper that is for sure!
