Southern Hemisphere January Winter

20230129_134003.jpg

The weather person said it would be cool yesterday. I didn't entirely believe. After all, it's not even the end of January. We're supposed to be approaching our hottest month: February. But no. Yesterday our maximum temperature was just over 20°C, and after more than a week of 38°C, it was a shock to the system. I found myself in socks, boots and two layers of clothing. I was not happy.

When you have a day that feels like winter in the height of summer, it has to be comfort food. Fish, peas and parsley sauce.

Here's to a warmer week and one that is a lot less dramatic than the last few!

Until next time, be well

If this post might seem familiar, it's because I'm doing two things:

  • re-vamping old recipes. As I do this, I am adding them in a file format that you can download and print. If you download recipes, buy me a coffee. Or better yet, a glass of wine....?
  • and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts.
I blog to the Hive blockchain using a number of decentralised appplications.
  • From Wordpress, I use the Exxp Wordpress plugin. If this rocks your socks, click here or on on the image below to sign up.

Whoa, talk about different perspectives! When it reaches 20°C here, I walk barefoot and wear a huge, airy T-shirt over tights. At 38°C I think I'd go live in the fridge 😹

Sweden! Not the northern parts where they have ice bears on the streets though ;)

Oooh! We have a former Swedish diplomat who, with her American husband run away - to the village - from the Swedish winter every year! I could not cope!

I can kind of understand running away from the winter, but moving house twice a year? Nah, I'll just stay indoors as much as possible until spring! Makes my shoes last longer, too 😹

Great post. I don't know if harmattan in Ghana, Tamale is our version of winter. At this time of the season, the cool nature of the weather makes bathing difficult🤣

Thank you. We have all four seasons and I'd just prefer that they happen when they should! 🤣

I'm sorry about your weather being 20 C sometimes. Here if it's that hot, there's people running around in shorts. If it makes you feel better, it's -10 C today here. I'm not going anywhere. Some comfort food sounds about right.

I love a nice plate of peas, potatoes and something else slathered in sauce or gravy.

I cannot imagine -20. I'd die. I'd also not be going anywhere. It confirms - agian - how relative things are. And, happily, we're back to sandals and sleeveless frocks! Oh and salad!
