Three Photo Thursday - a mixed bag

The budding aloes tell me that winter's just about here. They're in full bloom when we're at our coldest. They and their colours are one of the few good things about winter.

With a new crop of Swiss chard (which we call spinach!) and young fennel in the garden, last night's supper was a frittata with balsamic caramelised onions and feta, topped with pepperdews.

I served it with a dismal salad and potato, of course, for The Husband.

I am so unimpressed with this mixed leaf salad pack. Leaves? It's mostly stalks. And not of lettuce but of some sort of red brassica. Might have been ok for a stir fry or coleslaw but not for a mixed leaf salad. It was on a special and the stalks perhaps explain why. I can't take it back now, but I have had a moan on Twitter and Instagram. It probably won't amount to much, but I do feel a bit better.

The crazy busy-ness continues. At the end of a busy week in my other office, it's Friday. Again. A long agenda and a full day in the kitchen that I must make the best of. I have limited time this weekend with the market and, after two years, a proper, in person birthday celebration with a special friend.

Until next time, be well

Great to hear you have a friends birthday celebration enjoy @fionasfavourites 😁 even though you are busy.

To bad the leafy salad wasn’t leafy at all, sometimes it does feel better to moan about it. Maybe you do hear something back.

The food looks truly delicious 😁
Have a wonderful day today 👋🏻

5 years this has been happening to me, it started here, around people that are still here. Homeland security has done nothing at all, they are not here to protect us. Dont we pay them to stop shit like this? The NSA, CIA, FBI, Police and our Government has done nothing. Just like they did with the Havana Syndrome, nothing. Patriot Act my ass. The American government is completely incompetent. The NSA should be taken over by the military and contained Immediately for investigation. I bet we can get to the sources of V2K and RNM then. https://peakd.com/gangstalking/@acousticpulses/electronic-terrorism-and-gaslighting--if-you-downvote-this-post-you-are-part-of-the-problem

I would be kicking up a fuss about the salad. I am not a salady leafy fan at the best of times, but getting a gag full of stalks would have peeved me right off!

Oh well at least you have your Kitchen to occupy you for the market, I am curious if it will be a busy one again or not.
Aloe Vera blooms, well this is blooming cool even if it is winter over there!#

Enjoy that birthday in person party and no more altercations with the noobs at the pub tonight if you go 🤣

Me, too. Judging by the patronage at the local last evening (no noobs or visitors...), I am not holding my breath. Next week's month end, so 🤞

Aloe Vera

Them veras are A. ferox. One day, I might write about my having dabbles in a business that made skin, hair care and food products with this plant...

I get so upset when I buy something and feel ripped off. Anyway, when we complain on Twitter I think we at least feel better hehe.
Have a nice weekend, and enjoy the birthday party.🤗

The aloes are looking stunning here as well!
I've stopped buying any of Pick n Pay's pre-packed veggies & salads as I still have to check the veggies because it's often spoilt even though the sell by date is still more than a day away! It's so maddening as it's meant to be a time-saver!
Hope you have a good market day, the cold Cape winds arrived here today, really a miserable day.
Enjoy your friend's birthday Fiona!
