DIY DARTH VADER HELMET KEYCHAIN [ENG-ESP]

Hello dear friends, artists and also artisans, I hope you are feeling very well, in some parts of the world these are vacation days, and I have taken the opportunity to do some things. Among those I want to show you a keychain that I made of the dark lord of the Sith Darth Vader, I made this keychain taking his helmet as a reference, since it is what allows him to continue alive because it contains an artificial respirator. It has always been an intimidating costume that contains references to the costumes of the ancient samurai, warlords of ancient Japan, as well as the SS of the Nazis. I made this keychain using soda cans as glue material, here I briefly tell you how I did it, I hope you like it.

Hola queridos amigos, artistas y también artesanos, espero que se encuentren muy bien, en algunas partes del mundo estos son días de vacaciones, y yo he aprovechado para hacer algunas cosas. Entre esas quiero mostrarles un llavero que hice del señor oscuro de los sith Darth Vader, este llavero lo hice tomando como referencia su casco, ya que es lo que le permite continuar con vida porque contiene un respirador artificial. Siempre ha sido un traje intimidante que contiene referencias a los trajes de los antiguos samuráis, señores de la guerra en el Japón antiguo, así como también a las SS de los nazi. Hice este llavero utilizando latas de refresco como material pegamento, aquí cuento brevemente como lo hice, espero que les guste.

I made some templates based on each of the parts of the helmet, as you can see the samurai helmets can also be used as a reference, speaking of which, I think I will make a Darth Vader helmet but based on the samurai style, I think that It would be great.

Hice unas plantillas basadas en cada una de las partes del casco, como pueden ver se puede usar como referencia también los cascos de los samuráis, hablando de eso, creo que haré un casco de Darth Vader pero basado en el estilo samurái, creo que eso quedaría genial.

I used two simple aluminum cans to make this keychain, as you can see, it doesn't take a lot of material. As tools I also used scissors and tweezers to bend and shape the aluminum. Once the cans were cut, I transformed them into thin sheets to work with.

Utilicé para hacer este llavero, dos simples latas de aluminio, como ven, no se necesita una gran cantidad de material. Como herramientas utilicé también, las tijeras y pinzas para doblar y moldear el aluminio, una vez cortadas las latas, las transformo en finas láminas para trabajar.

Having all the materials ready and in order, I begin to cut the templates and glue them on top of the can. For example, here I start at the top of the helmet, cut this piece in the shape of a flower, give it a circular shape and then start gluing each of the tabs until it forms a small container.

Al tener todos los materiales listos y en orden, comienzo a cortar las plantillas y a pegarlas encima de la lata. Por ejemplo, aquí comienzo por la parte superior del casco, corto esta pieza en forma de flor, le doy forma circular y luego comienzo a pegar cada una de las pestañas hasta formar un pequeño recipiente.

The second piece to finish the upper part of the helmet is to make a headband that surrounds the previous piece, this is what gives it the appearance of being an ancient samurai warrior, in fact the samurai followed the samurai code, that is, Bushido Just as the Jedi followed the ways of the Force, the Sith used the opposite of the Jedi to become powerful.

La segunda pieza para terminar la parte superior del casco es hacer un cintillo que rodea a la pieza anterior, esto es lo que le da la apariencia de ser un antiguo guerrero samurái, de hecho los samuráis seguían el código del samurai, es decir el Bushido, así como los Jedi seguían las costumbres de la Fuerza, los Sith utilizaban todo lo contrario a los Jedi para hacerse poderosos.

Now I continue with the inside part of the helmet and it is what protects the entire head and face. Starting with everything that surrounds the head and then the face, where you can clearly see the eyes, and the mouth, and especially the place where Darth Vader's artificial respirator goes.

Ahora continúo con la parte interior del casco y es la que protege toda la cabeza y rostro. Comenzando por todo lo que rodea la cabeza y luego el rostro, donde se puede ver claramente los ojos, y la boca, y especialmente el lugar donde va el respirador articifiacl de Darth Vader.

I then continued modeling the part that protects the face, assembling the previous pieces and placing the new ones, such as the eyes and the artificial respirator of the helmet. You can see that the 2 most important pieces of said helmet are already finished, all that remains is to join them with glue, add paint and that's it.

Seguidamente continuo modelando la parte que proteje al rostro, armando las piezas anteriores y colocando las nuevas, como los ojos y el respirador artificial del casco. Se puede apreciar que las 2 piezas más importantes de dicho casco ya estan terminadas, solo falta unirlas con pegamento, añadirles pintura y listo.

The last piece to make is the neck, I had forgotten this part, otherwise the head would look bad and could be damaged, because in addition to the neck it functions as a base to remain firm. Then I join all the pieces and I have the helmet, to paint I use spray paint, glossy black and let it dry for a few hours, if possible until the next day so that the paint finish is the brightest.

La última pieza en realizar es el cuello, había olvidado esta parte, sino la hacía la cabeza quedaría mal y podría estropearse, porque además de cuello le funciona como base para mantenerse firme. Luego uno todas las piezas y tengo el casco, para pinatr utilizo pintura en aerosol, color negro brillante y dejo secar por unas cuantas horas, si es posible hasta el día siguiente para que el acabado la pintura sea el más brillante.

For the paint to look better I waited a whole day, after that I added transparent varnish so that the paint had better shine and more resistance, finally I added the chain to complete the Darth Vader keychain.

Para que la pintura quedara mejor esperé un día entero, luego de eso le eche barníz trasnparente para que la pintura tenga mejor brillo y más resistencia, por último agregué la cadena para poder completar el llavero de Darth Vader.

FINAL WORK

This is how Darth Vader's helmet keychain turned out, what did you think of the result? I think the finish was great, especially having put transparent varnish on it, this gives it more shine and protection. I have seen that resin could be used, but I still have no idea how to use that technique, it is something I want to learn very soon.
