Lionel Messi Painting On Argentine Banknote [ENG-ESP]

Hello dear community, I hope you are all doing well, especially that you are enjoying the World Cup, even if your country didn't qualify like mine. That's no reason not to enjoy some great football. This week, Lionel Messi made history by scoring an incredible hat trick, the first of which was the most impressive. That powerful shot he took was simply cinematic. So, I took the opportunity to draw the great Argentinian footballer, this time on an Argentinian banknote that someone gave me, a 1000 Argentinian peso note. I did this painting with acrylic paint and colored pencils for the details—in short, a mixed media technique. Here's a brief explanation of how I did it.

Hola querida comunidad, espero que todos se encuentren muy bien, especialmente que estén disfrutando del mundial de futbol aunque tu país no haya clasificado así como el mío, eso no es impedimento para disfrutar del buen futbol. Esta semana Lionell Messi hizo historia al convertir un increíble hat trick, donde el primero de los tres goles fue el más impresionante, ese poderoso disparo que hizo al arco fue sencillamente cine. Así que aproveché la ocasión para dibujar al gran futbolista argentino, esta vez en un billete de Argentina que me regalaron, de la cantidad de 1000 pesos argentinos. Esta pintura la hice con pintura acrílica y también lápiz de color para los detalles, en pocas palabras una técnica mixta, aquí les comentaré brevemente como lo hice.

As I mentioned before, this time I didn't use a Venezuelan banknote but an Argentinian one, specifically a 1000-peso note. I really liked the design and the warm color palette. I sketched Messi's face in profile. First, I drew the outline in pencil, and once that was done, I filled in the area with white paint. After it dried, I gradually added all the details of the face.

Como había mencionado ante, esta vez no he utilizado un billete venezolano sino uno argentino, específicamente uno de 1000 pesos, me gustó mucho el diseño y el tondo de colores que usa, muy cálidos. Hago el boceto con el rostro de Messi mirando desde una perspectiva de perfil. Hago primero los límites con lápiz y una vez lo he hecho relleno el interior con pintura blanca, una vez que haya secado voy haciendo poco a poco todos los detalles del rostro.

When mixing the paints, I create different tones for the skin of the face, especially for the first layer, and then I add more tones to give it volume. The face isn't flat in color; the effect of the light makes it look different in other areas, especially in the lower part where the beard begins.

Al mezclar las pinturas hago diferentes tonos para la piel del rostro, especialmente para la primera capa, y así voy agregando más tonos para darle volumen. El rostro no es plano en color, sino que el efecto de la luz hace que se vea diferente en otras partes, especialmente en la parte baja donde comienza la barba.

Next, I added the hair. For this step, I mixed several colors, using brown as a base, but adding other shades to better create the light reflections on the hair. Similarly, I added more shades to the beard, including a touch of red since Messi's beard grows in that color.

Seguidamente fui agregando el cabello, para este paso hice una mezcla de algunos colores utilizando como base el color marrón, pero agregando otros tonos para hacer mejor los reflejos de la luz sobre el cabello. De la misma forma fui agregando más tonos a la barba, un poco de rojo ya que a Messi le crece de este color.

Another detail in the beard is the darkening at the neck, which adds contrast and volume. Since it's a small painting, the smallest details are difficult to draw, so I trimmed the brush slightly to make it finer, allowing me to draw and paint areas like the lips and eyes.

Otro detalle en la barba es oscurecer en la parte del cuello, aquí va tomando más contraste y se le ve con más volumen. Al ser una pintura de pequeñas dimensiones los detalles más pequeños son difíciles de dibujar, así que corté un poco el pincel para hacerlo más fino, así pude dibujar y pintar partes como los labios y los ojos.

Then, to finish, I went over each and every detail little by little; it was like a third layer in terms of detail. Acrylic paint gives the surface texture, so I took advantage of this to paint the beard and hair and give it a full, flowing look. Finally, I painted the collar of the soccer jersey with black lines and added the blue stripes that represent the Argentinian flag. And that's how it was finished.

Luego para finalizar fui poco a poco revisando todos y cada uno de los detalles, sería como una tercera capa en cuanto a los detalles, la pintura acrílica sirve para que la superficie quede con relieves, así que aprovecho esta circunstancia para hacer justamente la barba y el cabello y darle una forma abundante. Por último pinto el cuello de la camiseta del equipo de futbol con líneas negra sy le agrego las franjas azules que hacen referencia a la bandera Argentina, de esta manera ha quedado finalizado.

What do you think of the final result? The Argentine banknotes are very beautiful, and the paper money is very strong, as is the Venezuelan banknote. It's good quality because it holds the paint very well. All this painting needs is a beautiful frame, and it will be ready to decorate your home with the image of the man now considered the best footballer of all time. ¿Qué les ha parecido el resultado final? Los billetes argentinos son muy bonitos, además de eso, el papel moneda es muy fuerte al igual que el billete venezolano, es de una buena calidad ya que soporta muy bien la pintura. A esta pintura solo falta agregarle un hermoso marco y estaría listo para adornar el hogar con el considerado ahora el mejor futbolista de todos los tiempos.
