Michael Jackson The king of pop - Drawing Fan Art [ENG-ESP]

Hello dear friends, I hope you are all doing well. This Friday afternoon, I want to share with you a drawing I made of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. The greatest legend of pop music and the most influential artist of the 20th century is now making a comeback, this time with the release of his film, Michael. I haven't had a chance to see it in theaters yet; it premiered yesterday, and I've read very positive reviews. I've always been a fan of the King of Pop, so I have a date at the cinema to see it. I created this drawing using the scribble technique, just loose, circular lines, gradually taking shape with the pen ink on the paper. I hope you like what you're about to see. Let's begin!

Hola queridos amigos, espero que todos se encuentren muy bien, hoy en esta tarde de viernes quiero compartir con ustedes un dibujo hice acerca del rey del pop Michael Jackson. La leyenda más grande de la música pop y el artista más influyente del siglo XX ahora esta volviendo a dominar, en esta oportunidad a través del estreno de su película titulada Michael. Aun no he tenido oportunidad de ir al cine a verla, ayer fue el estreno mundial y he leído críticas muy buenas, siempre fui fan del rey del pop así que tengo una cita pendiente en el cine para ir a verla. He realizado este dibujo con la técnica del scribble, solo líneas sueltas y circulares hasta dar forma a través de la tinta del bolígrafo en el papel, espero que les guste lo que están a punto de ver. PROCESS

For this drawing, I chose Michael's 80s aesthetic, you know, when he was dominating the world and winning Grammys. On a piece of white cardstock, I sketched his face, which features large sunglasses and wavy hair. I simply used a pencil to draw the lines, which I then filled in with pen ink to give shape to the face.

Para hacer este dibujo he elegido la estética de Michael de los años 80, ya saben, cuando dominaba el mundo y le llovían premios Grammys. En una cartulina de color blanco he ido haciendo el boceto de su rostro, el cual tiene unos grandes lentes de sol, y su cabello ondulado. Aquí simplemente utilicé un lápiz para hacer las líneas que luego voy a rellenar con la tinta del bolígrafo para darle forma al rostro.

After I've finished, I begin applying the doodling technique to the paper. This consists of making random strokes; I usually use circles or the infinity symbol. I like to do it this way because the amount of pressure you apply to the pen tip on the paper greatly affects the ink intensity, whether for creating shadows or simply drawing shapes. In this drawing, I used three different types of ink: regular ballpoint pen ink, fine-tip marker ink with a very dark ink, and alcohol-based marker ink.

Luego que he realizado comienzo a aplicar la técnica del garabato sobre el papel, esto consta de hacer trazos accidentados, suelo utilizar círculos, o el símbolo del infinito, me gusta hacerlo de esta manera porque depende mucho de que tanto presiones la punta del bolígrafo sobre el papel para saber que intensidad de tinta quieres, ya sea para hacer sombras o simplemente hacer formas. En este dibujo utilizo 3 tipos diferentes de tinta, la del bolígrafo corriente, la de un marcador punta fina que tiene una tinta muy oscura y luego la de marcador a base de alcohol.

In the first part where I used the pen, you could see how the shape of the face began to emerge. Now, in this next step, I'm adding depth and volume to those initial shapes. It all depends on how much I use the pen in a particular area of ​​the drawing. For example, you can see how I'm adding the black lenses of the glasses Michael wore.

En la primera parte que usé el bolígrafo pudieron darse cuenta como fue apareciendo la forma del rostro, ahora en este siguiente paso, a esas primeras formas lo que hago es darle profundidad y volumen, todo depende de que tanto use el bolígrafo en un área del dibujo. Así por ejemplo pueden ver como voy agregando los cristales negros de los lentes que usaba Michael.

Next, I begin shaping the hair, mainly defining the edges, so it's clear I'll be painting with ink. But before that, I go over the entire drawing again up to where I've already painted, to deepen the shadows and increase the contrast. To paint the hair, I switch from a ballpoint pen to a fine-tipped marker.

Seguidamente comienzo a darle forma al cabello, principalmente delimitando los bordes, así queda claro que voy a pintar con tinta. Pero antes de eso, lo que hago es volver a repasar todo el dibujo hasta donde lo he pintado, esto con el objetivo de profundizar en las sombras para que el contraste sea aún mayor. Para pintar el cabello cambio el bolígrafo hacia el marcador de punta fina estilo pluma.

I paint the hair after having defined the entire area. Here you can see how I make the strokes until I darken the entire hair area. I think this technique worked best to represent the shape of Michael's hair in those years.

Voy pintando el cabello luego de haber delimitado toda la zona, aquí pueden observar como voy haciendo los trazos hasta oscurecer toda la zona del cabello, creo que esta técnica quedó mejor para representar la forma del cabello que tenía Michael en aquellos años.

To finish this drawing, I added part of the jacket, one of the ones I used, with a punk aesthetic in black. To do this I used more lines, however for the shadows I used the previous doodle style.

Para finalizar este dibujo, he agregado parte de la chaqueta, una de las que utilizaba, con una estética punk de color negro, apra hacerlo utilicé más líneas, sin embargo para las sombras utilicé el estilo de garabatos anterior.

FINAL WORK

What did you think of the ending? I've read some unfavorable reviews of the film, but I don't care, since those same critics have praised movies that were truly awful. So as soon as I get the chance, I'll go see it in theaters, and I'll definitely write a review. I hope you liked how the drawing turned out. For now, I'll say goodbye until next time!
