Mister T Mapogo Drawing - The most brutal lion in history [ENG-ESP]

Hello dear friends, I hope you are all doing well. One of my hobbies is watching wildlife programs, and my favorite animal is the lion. This time, I've drawn one of the most powerful beasts on record: Mister T, an African lion who belonged to the Mapogo lion coalition. This coalition conquered vast territories through force and terror against other lions. From a young age, Mister T was a very different lion. Of all his siblings, he was always the most daring and bloodthirsty. I think something was wrong with him. I consider him the greatest force of nature to date; one could even consider him a psychopathic lion because of the imbalance of his actions. Join me in this process of creating his drawing, and I'll briefly tell you part of Mister T's story.

Hola queridos amigos, espero que se encuentren muy bien, una de mis aficiones es ver programa acerca de la vida salvaje, mi animal preferido son los leones. En esta oportunidad he realizado el dibujo de uno de las bestias más poderosas de las que se tiene registro, se trata de Mister T, un león africano que perteneció a la coalición de leones conocida como los Mapogo, esta coalición conquistó enormes territorios a través de la fuerza y el terror contra otros leones. Mister T desde cachorro fue un león muy diferente, de todos sus hermanos siempre fue el mas arriesgado y sanguinario, yo opino que algo estaba mal con el, lo considero la fuerza de la naturaleza más grande hasta ahora, podría considerarse que fue un león psicópata por el desequilibrio de sus acciones. Acompáñame en este proceso de creación de su dibujo, y te comentaré brevemente parte de la historia de Mister T.

PROCESS

To create a good fan art piece, I chose to use black cardstock and white charcoal pencil. I really like this drawing technique because of the effects you can achieve. I started drawing this lion without a preliminary sketch, instead beginning by drawing the nose.

Para hacer un buen fan art elegí hacerlo en cartulina de color negro y también lápiz carboncillo de color blanco, esta tendencia para dibujar me gusta muchísimo por los afectos que se pueden alcanzar. Comienzo a dibujar a este león sin un boceto premio y en lugar de eso comienzo directamente dibujando la nariz.

Next, I began shaping the central part of the face. I depicted Mister T letting out a menacing roar, so I carefully drew his large fangs. Mapogos were known for their brutality; they became relentless hunters, adding hippos, giraffes, and crocodiles to their diet. They even resorted to cannibalism against other lions, especially Mister T and his inseparable brother, known as Crooked Tail. They not only killed lions but could also eat them, a strange behavior that alarmed park rangers and wildlife researchers.

Seguidamente fui dando forma a la parte central del rostro, a Mister T lo hice lanzando un rugido amenazador así que dibujé muy bien sus grandes colmillos. Los Mapogos fueron conocidos por su brutalidad, se convirtieron en cazadores implacables, añadiendo al menú, hipopótamos, jirafas y cocodrilos, incluso cometieron canibalismo contra otros leones, especialmente Mister T y su hermano inseparable conocido Cola Torcida. No solo mataban leones sino que podían comérselos, esta conducta extraña alertó a los guardaparques y estudiosos de la vida salvaje.

Then I began to shape the fur on its face, which, as you know, consists of small hairs covering the entire face, but not before shaping the fangs and making sure you could hear the power of that roar. Normally, when lions want to take over a territory, they prefer a surprise attack. Mapogos, on the other hand, would enter a territory, roar to announce their presence and mark their new boundaries.

Después comencé a darle forma al pelaje que tiene en el rostro, el cual como saben consta de pelos de tamaño pequeño que cubren todo el rostro, no sin antes darle forma a los colmillos y que notara la fuerza de ese rugido. Normalmente los leones cuando quieren apoderarse de un territorio prefieren el ataque sorpresa, los Mapogo por su parte, entraban a un territorio, rugían advirtiendo su presencia para hacerse notar y marcaban sus nuevas fronteras.

You can see how, step by step, I'm covering the entire face, even adding the lines of expression, how the face tenses the instant it lets out a powerful roar. A lion's roar can be heard up to 10 km away; literally, being near a lion could make you feel the earth tremble with its roar. Mister T was given that name because his mane didn't grow as thick and bushy as most lions', but rather a crest remained on top, and his name comes from the famous actor from the 80s.

Pueden observar como paso a paso voy cubiendo toda la parte del rostro, incluso voy haciendo las líneas de expresión, como se tensa el rostro al instante de emitir un poderoso rugido. El rugido del león puede escucharse hasta 10 km de distancia, literalmente estar cerca de un león se podría sentir como hace temblar la tierra con su rugido. Mister T fue bautizado con ese nombre porque su melena no creció frondosa como todos los leones, sino que en la parte superior le quedó una cresta, y su nombre se debe al famoso actor de los años 80.

Next, I painted the entire mane, tracing how it falls behind the ear and down, after also drawing his famous crest and the one that gave him his name. I refined the details all over the face, intensifying the dark colors with a black charcoal pencil. Finally, I added the whiskers, and that's how it turned out.

Seguidamente fui pintando toda la melena, como le va cayendo dentras de la oreja hacia abajo, no sin antes también dibujar su famosa cresta y la que le dio su nombre. Voy afinando detalles por todo el rostro, intensificando los colores oscuros al utilizar un lápiz de carboncillo de color negro. Por último voy agregando los bigotes y así ha quedado finalizado.

What do you think of the result? The black background really helped me create that epic roar, a hallmark of these powerful animals. There's a documentary on YouTube that tells the story of the Mapogo and how they built their empire. The story of these six brothers really moved me. There are many legends about lions, but none like these magnificent creatures. I hope you liked this drawing; it's the first lion I've drawn in many years. See you soon!

¿Qué les ha parecido el resultado? el color negro del fondo me ayudó mucho para hacer esa forma épica del rugido, signo de estos poderosos animales. En youtube esta disponible un documental que narra las aventuras de los Mapogo y como fueron creando su imperio. La historia de estos 6 hermanos me impactó en gran manera, hay muchas leyendas acerca de leones, pero ninguno como estos magníficos animales.
