Odor Vs. Bautista MLB Fight Drawing with colored pencils [ENG-ESP]

Hello friends, I hope you are very well, this time I want to share a drawing I made of the fight between Major League Baseball players Odor and Bautista. Both players had a strong fight that later turned into a great brawl that completely included both teams, this happened in 2016, and it went down in history as one of the most unfortunate events in the sport. Although you should never support violence, sometimes the players exceed the passion they put into each game. The drawing is made with colored pencils on Fabriano cardboard, I hope you like it.

Hola amigos, espero que se encuentren muy bien, en esta oportunidad quiero compartir un dibujo que hice de la pelea que protagonizaron los beisbolistas de las Grandes Ligas Odor y Bautista. Ambos jugadores tuvieron una fuerte pelea que luego se convirtió en una gran trifulca que incluyo por completo a ambos equipos, esto ocurrió en el año 2016, y quedó para la historia como uno de los hechos más lamentables en el deporte. Aunque nunca hay que apoyar la violencia a veces los jugadores se exceden en cuanto a la pasión que ponen en cada partido. El dibujo está realizado con lápices de colores sobre cartulina Fabriano, espero que les guste.

The first step was to cut the paper since the cardboard was very large so I cut a tabloid that measures 25 centimeters by 40 centimeters. Then I started to make the sketches of the players with a 4H carbon pencil that has a very hard tip and that way the line is very clear and easier to erase later.

El primer paso fue cortar el papel ya que la cartulina era muy grande así que corte un tabloide que mide 25 centímetros por 40 centímetros. Luego comencé a hacer los bocetos de los jugadores con un lápiz de carbón 4H que tiene la punta muy dura y de esa forma el trazo queda muy claro y más fácil de borrar luego.

I started painting first with Bautista's face who, having a beard, made it a little easier for me to be able to draw because I wasn't focused so much on skin tone. For the face I used light pastel colors and a beige color as a base. So then I painted the beard, the hair and finished with the glasses, it took me a little more work to make the reflection of light in the crystals of the glasses.

Comencé a pintar primero por el rostro de Bautista quien al tener barba me facilitó un poco más el poder dibujar porque no estaba concentrado tanto en el tono de piel. Para el rostro utilicé colores pasteles claros y como base un color beige. Así luego pinté la barba, el cabello y finalicé con los lentes, me costó un poco más de trabajo hacer el reflejo de luz en los cristales de los lentes.

The next step was to make the Toronto Blue Jays jersey, which is blue. I started making soft, circular strokes to gradually fill in the surface. While he was doing this, he was also leaving the space marked for the folds of the flannel in the movement he made to cover his face. I also made both arms and the helmet, which I really liked how it turned out.

El siguiente paso fue hacer la camiseta de los Azulejos de Toronto la cual es azul, comencé haciendo trazos suaves y en forma circular para ir rellenando poco a poco la superficie . Mientras hacia esto también iba dejando el espacio marcado para los pliegues de la franela en el movimiento que hizo de cubrirse la cara. También hice ambos brazos y el casco, el cual me gustó mucho como quedó.

Then the turn was for the player of the Texas Rangers, the Venezuelan Odor, who gave Bautista a right hand to the face, I painted him using the same steps that I described above, only changing the color of the shirt. It also made my job much easier that he had his glasses on his face to play and a beard, we also have to add the team cap, so I didn't have to draw and paint his hair.

Después el turno fue para el jugador de los Rangers de Texas, el venezolano Odor, quien le propinó un derechazo en la cara a Bautista, lo pinté utilizando los mismos pasos que describí anteriormente, solo cambiando el color de la camisa. También me facilitó mucho el trabajo que en el rostro tuviera puestos sus lentes para jugar y barba, también hay que añadirle la gorra del equipo, así no tuve que dibujar y pintar su cabello.

After finishing with both baseball players I started to blur the background, this is the most complicated part because you have to apply layer after layer of color until you achieve a result like a photograph. For each layer it is blurred with a soft brush to mix all the colors and it starts again with a layer and mix of colors. In this step I spent more than 2 hours painting until I found a result that made me feel satisfied!

Después de terminar con ambos beisbolistas comencé a hacer el fondo desenfocado, esta es la parte más complicada porque se debe echar capa tras capa de color hasta lograr un resultado como una fotografía. Por cada capa se va difuminando con un pincel suave para mezclar todos los colores y se comienza de nuevo con una capa y mezcla de colores. En este paso tardé más de 2 horas pintando hasta encontrar un resultado que me hiciera sentir satisfecho!

This is how the legendary moment of this fight ended, this drawing already has an owner, it will go to the United States, a friend who lives there told me that he liked it a lot, so I gave it to him and since his mother is going to visit him, she will take it with him . Así quedó finalizado el momento legendario de esta pelea, este dibujo ya tiene dueño, se irá para Estados Unidos, un amigo que vive alla me dijo que le gustó mucho así que se lo he obsequiado y como su mamá irá a visitarlo ella se lo llevará. Este ha sido mi aporte, espero que les haya gustado y hayan disfrutado el proceso, fue todo un desafío hacerlo, me despido hasta una nueva oportunidad de estar aquí.
