I am still confused about investing. The Cartel really wants to buy assets. What would be the best strategy? Getting packs? Is it worth it to get these expensive packs? !1UP 100

Well the packs are currently for Divine Order as that is the current expansion. The only problem with buying those packs is that those cards are not locked yet. And all that means is that cards in that set can still be buffed or nerfed. So a really powerful and strong card that is worth a fair amount right now could get a change made to it that could hurt its monetary value. As of right now the current locked sets are Genesis and Trial of the Gods. Genesis cards however are extremely expensive. Take the Demogorgon for example. That card is in almost every mythic top end deck. It is a locked card and from Genesis which tends to be the most powerful cards in the game. It is currently selling for$1,171.79 on tokentrove.com and that is for its lowest shine which is Meteorite. There are only 3,752 of those cards in print. That is all that will ever exist other then a few Genesis card chest that are not open but even then that will only add a handful of that card to the pool. Another good example is UnderBrush Boar. This card is widely seen as the most powerful 2 mana card in the entire game. It costs two mana and is a 3/3. At the end of the turn it was summoned it randomly attacks a creature. For the most part as a two drop it will kill whatever it his. Especially if you buffed it with a + health card. It is also from Genesis and is currently selling for $134.92. It is seen as a staple in any Nature deck not matter if it is an aggro, control, or big beast deck. There are 10,257 of those in print. So it all depends on how you want to invest buy the cards you know see a lot of play and will not get nerfed or buffed. Or buy a bunch of packs of the current expansion and hope you get a high shine card that is played a lot and does not get a nerf or buff. Or do you invest in cards that are played a lot and are not that expensive and just have a high shine. When I talk about shine it is what makes the cards look different colors and correlates to its rarity. The levels are Meteorite, Shadow, Gold, Diamond. In order from lowest to highest. Now it has been said when the new play2eanr aspect kick in the higher shine value in your deck the more $GODS token you will earn. Then there are also trinkets which just make your playset board look fancy. But there is not a huge market for those as there are for cards. And you have to remember if you are buying say a genesis rare chest hoping to get lucky and pull some high value cards. Those chests are still on layer one ETH so you will have to pay the high ETH gas fees. Where cards are on layer 2 where fees are so extremely low. And cards can be paid for in $GODS, and $IMX token along side of ETH as well. So the question is for your investment are you just doing card value speculation. Or are you going to play with the cards. And the third option is will you rent the cards to other players. This is just a rumor that renting might become a thing. As a game similar to Gods Unchained, Splinterlands allows players to rent out their cards they are not using for passive income. But the GU team has not made it know for certain if renting will ever happen.

The market was having issues over Chritmas Holiday as most of the IMX and Gods Unchained team were on vacation. The market is up and running smoothly as of now. If you are trying to bring layer one cards to layer two yes this is a slow process. But most anything you buy off of IMX right now is already on layer 2.

Genesis Cards are the equivalent of pokemon base set cards for GU, and may have a similar context within GU as it evolves in the next 5-10 years. I would look there

Yea some of those cards are out of reach for certain players. But if you are an investor with money to spend Genesis are definitely the smart buy. Even certain Trial of the Gods cards. But those are not as many as the Genesis set.

I don't think buying packs is actually a viable thing. Unless you're collecting for collecting. Many great cards are very cheap, and you can make a deck to achieve ~18/19 wins per week plus the 4 points of Blessing of the GODS very easily.

If you're considering investing in assets to hold, that is very hard to decide what's best. Every expansion can change completely the scope of the game, such as DO have brought armor and order into the game, other expansions can do the same.

Plus all of the sets can be reprinted except Genesis. It was voted on and that set will never be reprinted.

I think so, I have opened 127 and very happy with my results, it will give you more passive income renting the extra cards, collection power, more cards to play with if drabs needs plus more assets to grow in value! Or wait for general sale when cards go down in price and start buying individuals... I am doing both. Bought 3 thadius brood for 35, 38 & 40 combined now worth 195... people telling me i am buying at the wrong time yet I think anytime early is good, just keep DCA my way in. I got 624 more packs coming also from a group buy next week! #wearestillearly Did you see the Motley fool article saying SPS is Doge of 2022 looking for a 4,000x type of growth? I ignor the fool yet enjoyed seeing this!

Never heard of that guy before but the article was entertaining. Personally, I think Splinterlands hasn't even started yet.
