Squash Count, Finished the Studio ceiling insulation, NaNoWriMo - Tuesday
Between taking R to school and picking him up I got a text regarding my winter squash from our sales manager at the co-op. It looks like I should be selling them all over the next few weeks as they will be going into boxes for either the USDA or for our CSA box. I had to get a count of each and then get a count of weight. The Acorn turned out at 124 lbs and the butternut at 232 lbs. I'm stoked that they will be going out before too long.
The ducks and chickens have been loving the grain I spread in the garden. When I let them out in the mornings they make a bee line for it and scratch it all around. The ducks are more of the tampers while the chickens are the scratchers.
The insulation for the ceiling is 9 inches thick and cutting it proved to be a problem until I figured out the easiest method. I put the 2 boards down on either side of where I was to cut and pushed the boards down too compress the insulation. This made cutting it much easier and cleaner.
I was smarter this time and wore a buff to keep the fiberglass out of my sinuses again.
All the ceiling insulation is now in and ready for the sheet rock. I'm not sure when I will attack that but for now I am happy to have this much done. The next steps will likely be to shuffle everything around so I can access the front of the building and get the insulation installed. It will be mainly filling in around the windows and I will likely only use one of the 2 bags of 3 inch insulation I have.
In the evening while everyone was out of the house for a couple hours I plowed into the nearly final words of #NaNoWriMo. I got 4100 words written and am now only 2250 words away from the 50,000. I will finish it today which is what I have been aiming for, to be done before Thanksgiving. I'll still be shy of my 100k goal by 16.5k words but I will be able to get through them no problems. I haven't really gotten to the meat of my story anyway so there is a lot of room for many more words than the 100k I have as my initial goal.
Today will be focused on getting the last words written for winning NaNo, I have to roll a new bale into the sheep, I have to organize the house for tomorrow, run the extension wire for CB antenna, and re-terminate all the cat5 since the crimper didn't arrive until after 7pm yesterday.
