Greetings everyone, this is another beautiful topic that made me remember the worst journey I have embarked on.

Travelling from Benin to Lagos was supposed to be like 3 hours but the worst happened. My friend and I were travelling to Lagos for a long-time friend's wedding and we were so excited because other friends and classmate would be coming too.
I made some special carrot cakes and some cookies to gift our beloved friend. We also cooked rice and chicken stew the previous day for dinner. We packed the remaining stew in a covered plate and took along with us.
We left benin city for lagos by 5:00am expecting to get to our final destination by 10:00am.
A smooth and fast journey until we got to shagaum which is very close to lagos state.
It was still very early, most people where on their way to supply goods to people in lagos state, like bread seller with buses, drinks, people from the market with vegetables, life stock and grain.

At first, we assume the traffic would be for an hour the usual Ibadan expressway traffic little did we know what was ahead of us.
One of the passenger called his wife saying "Honey am very close to lagos prepare something for lunch before you leave the house" Did he make it for lunch? we still did not know what was ahead of us.
10:45am still at the same spot, everyone step out of the bus to see what was happening people starting buying bread from the bread sellers, my friend and i bought bread too and eat with the chicken stew we packed. Those who where hawkers came around to sell food, fruits and vegetables. They where the once that told us that the traffic was from three churches having a program at the same time and as a result of this we would sleep on the road or we should start walking to lagos. Still hungry we eat some of the carrot cake and cookies.

6:00pm no sign of leaving that place only for us to see people coming from behind trekking some running as fast as they could, guess what? immediately I told my friend I might know some of this people trekking, I saw my uncle who lives in lagos walking very fast that how I screen ***uncle *** he recognised my voice and asked me to call him.
9:46pm we managed to move a bit, but in all still at the same location.
12:00am still moving slow.
3:00am buses started moving fast the traffic cleared and all buses where free to move.
We got to our final destination at 7:00am the next morning. I took a hot bath and sleep till 3:00pm that day.
An experience I would never want to encounter.

My dear, a journey I can never forget in a hurry. Yes we all slept on the road. The reason my uncle was trekking was because he had a flight for 7:00am and he needs to pick up something from lagos before the leaves the next day. He had no option than to trek till he got a bike that took him inside lagso state.
Communication was easy because my Nokia phone was available.
Alot to happen but I thank God I got home safe the next day.
Thanks for reading my story dear.

Surely that most frustrating thing is traffic jam and traffic jam is like the sea of vehicles that you have to dive into.
Thanks for sharing with us ☺️.

Wow... Three hours journey??? But why would those churches not care about the traffic they were causing? They should have wardens controlling it, instead of keeping hundreds of people stranded like that. This is bad.

Thank you for sharing this with us.

The traffic is better now, but if any if those churches have a problem there would be traffic on the road. Thanks for your concern its a normal thing for us in lagos.
