The present situation of my country Nigeria has given many no other option than to leave the country with their families and they are not coming back to this land of suffering, hunger, educational strike, and general inflation of everything sold in the market, medical strike and so on.
Am so concerned about how a lot of this has affected us so badly but am bothered about the food inflation more because of our children, our old parents and generally we need food to survive.
Food prices have risen globally in recent years. It began with the coronavirus pandemic that made farmers and food-producing companies unable to cultivate and produce food in sufficient quantities. Many food factories ran out of raw materials for their operations.
Farmers have since returned to the fields and factories have reopened but food prices have remained high.

factors that have kept food prices high in my country

Fuel Scarcity
Since February 2022, Nigeria has been experiencing unprecedented fuel scarcity across most states of the country.
The panic in fuel buying issues started last year due to the government’s plans to remove fuel subsidies but it got worse when the federal government said its agents had imported substandard fuel. This forced motorists to charge more for the transportation of goods and services and the aftermath of this translated to the sudden rise in prices of foodstuffs across the country.

Electricity Shortage
The nation’s electricity grid has collapsed at least five times since the beginning of 2022. Experts have attributed this to poor utility performance, theft of grid equipment, weather, gas supply, insufficient funding and the age of grid infrastructure.
The erratic power supply has pushed business owners (food processing and manufacturing companies) to seek alternative but expensive means to power their tools to prevent food spoilage across agricultural value chains, translating to the high cost of food production, supply and high cost of food in the market shelves.

Russia-Ukraine Crisis
The ongoing Russia-Ukraine crisis has also imposed an unprecedented strain on the food supply chain of countries that source most of their agricultural products as well as other raw materials from both countries. Nigeria is still on the receiving end as it imports some agricultural products from both countries and mostly depends on imports from these countries.

Insecurity
Within the past five years, aside from the over a decade-long Boko Haram insurgent crisis ravaging Nigeria’s North-East, ethnic conflicts and banditry across the North-central states in the country have also taken a toll on the region, leaving several thousands of people killed and millions displaced, who are mostly farmers. This has put a strain on food production across these regions.

IT CAN ONLY GET BETTER(HOPE)
With the massive turnout of the youth in preparation to get their voter cards ready for the forthcoming election, we are all ready to give peace a chance and develop this country.
The only way we can all move this country forward is by allowing equity, fairness, and justice to thrive. No one man’s ambition is larger than the collective interests of all Nigerians and friends of Nigeria worldwide. Let the truth be told, this is the last hope for my country Nigeria. It would take all of us to make it better.
The young handsome president aspirant from a new party is our hope for a great change and a better Nigeria 🇳🇬.
Thank you for reading

Some of the problems we have in Nigeria is also being experienced in other part of the world and they are mostly a side effect of the COVID-19 period. I just hope we get things right in the next election, because the other problems we have are majorly caused by bad leaders

There is no security in Nigeria my country, if you start longer than you are supposed to at night, you are on your own. God should continue protecting us.

Nigeria has been on a steady decline for many years now, and now it has all come to a tipping point. Everyone has woken up, and that's the good thing.

Thank you for sharing this with us.
