Iniciativa: Lo que me gusta de la Navidad [🇪🇸 / 🇬🇧]

Saludos a toda la comunidad. Es un placer para mi participar con todos ustedes en otra iniciativa de la comunidad de Venezuela. De antemano disculpen la tardanza en este post, crear espacios para publicar en estos momentos se me hace bastante complicados

La navidad ha llegado a Hive y junto con esto, un nuevo momento para reafirmar, corregir y reflexionar sobre nuestros pasos de este año. Supongo que dependiendo de lo que evaluemos figuró nuestros nombres en alguna de las listas de Santa.

Greetings to the entire community. It is a pleasure for me to participate with all of you in another initiative of the Venezuelan community. I apologize in advance for the delay in this post, creating spaces to publish at this time is quite complicated for me.

Christmas has come to Hive and along with this, a new moment to reaffirm, correct and reflect on our steps this year. I suppose that depending on what we evaluate our names will appear on one of Santa's lists.

Para muchos culminar un año es como cualquier otro día del año, supongo eso está bien, pues nosotros ideamos la concepción del tiempo. Pero, creo que para muchos es un momento para evaluarnos y para decirse año tras año que las cosas se pueden hacer mejor, que se puede ser una mejor persona, que se pueden plantear nuevas metas y sentirse orgulloso por los desafíos que se superaron y se superarán. Para otros es el momento indicado para apretar el botón de “reset”, escucharse a sí mismo, a la familia, los amigos o todas esas críticas constructivas que nos hicieron personas ajenas y decir ya basta, debo dejar eso que me hace daño y buscar lo que me hace bien, debo dejar un vicio, una mala relación, malas compañías, un mal empleo o falta de uno, un exceso de trabajo que me está enfermando. Eso cada uno lo sabe.

For many, the end of a year is like any other day of the year, i guess that's fine, because we devise the conception of time. But, i believe that for many it is a time to evaluate ourselves and to tell ourselves year after year that things can be done better, that we can be a better person, that we can set new goals and be proud of the challenges we have overcome and will overcome. For others it is the right time to press the "reset" button, to listen to oneself, to family, friends or all those constructive criticisms made to us by outsiders and say enough is enough, i must leave that which hurts me and look for what makes me well, i must leave a vice, a bad relationship, bad company, a bad job or lack of one, an overwork that is making me sick. Everyone knows that.

Esta época del año puede servir para cerrar ciclos y para darle la oportunidad a otras que están tocando la puerta pidiendo entrar desde hace tiempo. Supongo, estas son una de las cosas que me gusta de esta época, las infinitas posibilidades que uno se crea para el futuro, además de reforzar las cosas positivas que se llevan haciendo. Pero, no es lo que más me gusta de esta época, soy un poco más terrenal y sentimental.

This time of year can serve to close cycles and to give the opportunity to others that have been knocking on the door asking to come in for a long time. I guess, these are one of the things i like about this time of year, the endless possibilities one creates for the future, as well as reinforcing the positive things one has been doing. But, it's not my favorite thing about this time of year, i'm a little more earthy and sentimental.

Lo que más me gusta de la navidad son las tradiciones.

Sentarse en familia, tener en la mesa comida típica de la época unas hallacas, un pan de jamón, una ensalada de gallina, un panetón, un pernil, el vino para brindar y otros.

Adornar la casa, crear el pesebre, el árbol de navidad y los adornos por toda la casa esto después de una intensiva limpieza y si hace falta pintura también. También, nos llenamos de ideas para realizar adornos, por ejemplo, hace unos años diseñamos un muñeco de nieve como de 60 centímetros de alto con vasos plásticos y le agregamos sus respectivas luces.

What i like most about Christmas are the traditions.

Sitting with the family, having typical food of the season on the table, hallacas, ham bread, chicken salad, paneton, pernil, wine to toast and others.

Decorate the house, create the nativity scene, the Christmas tree and decorations all over the house after an intensive cleaning and if necessary painting too. For example, a few years ago we designed a snowman about 60 centimeters high with plastic cups and added their respective lights.

Con uno de mis hermanos, las mayorías de noches de navidad, hacemos una fogata y le montamos una olla bien grande con agua y cuando empieza a hervir, empezamos a meter las hallacas para cocinarlas. El proceso se disfruta cuando sabemos que las llamas no se apagarán, pero tragamos mucho humo y terminamos moqueando bastante. Pero, llega un punto donde eso no importa, ya el calor de la fogata mantiene caliente la noche y la familia empieza a salir a ver “cómo va la cosa”, conversamos un rato, algunos nos quedamos a fuera, luego nos rotamos entre todos los presentes para vigilar las llamas, comer algo adentro normalmente el jamón o pasas de las hallacas que aún no se han envuelto y chequear la temperatura del agua. Esto puede tardar varias horas. A veces pasamos hasta después de la celebración aún cocinando, solemos hacer hasta 80 hallacas. Terminamos cansados, pero la pasamos muy bien y el resultado es lo mejor. Es un rato muy ameno que creamos cada año en víspera de navidad, así que supongo esto ya forma parte de nuestra tradición familiar. Claro esto está sometido a las condiciones climáticas, si las lluvias nos lo permiten o no, este año no las pudimos hacer a leña, pero igual, la pasamos muy bien.

With one of my brothers, most Christmas nights, we make a bonfire and set up a big pot with water and when it starts to boil, we start to put the hallacas in to cook them. The process is enjoyable when we know that the flames will not go out, but we swallow a lot of smoke and end up getting a lot of runny noses. But, there comes a point where it doesn't matter, the heat of the fire keeps the night warm and the family starts to go out to see "how things are going", we talk for a while, some of us stay outside, then we rotate among all present to watch the flames, eat something inside usually the ham or raisins from the hallacas that have not yet been wrapped and check the temperature of the water. This can take several hours. Sometimes we spend until after the celebration still cooking, we usually make up to 80 hallacas. We end up tired, but we have a great time and the result is the best. It is a very enjoyable time that we create every year on Christmas Eve, so i guess this is already part of our family tradition. Of course this is subject to weather conditions, if the rains allow us to do it or not, this year we could not make them with firewood, but still, we had a great time.

Hay muchas cosas que me gustan de la navidad, pero en cada una de las cosas que veo que me gusta, mi familia está presente. Ellos son los que hacen que un regalito sea especial, que una hallaca sea única en el mundo, que un adorno de navidad sea el más bonito que se haya confeccionado y que un simple fogón a leña sea tan especial.

There are many things I like about Christmas, but in each of the things i see that i like, my family is present. They are the ones who make a gift special, a hallaca unique in the world, a Christmas ornament the most beautiful ever made and a simple wood fire so special.

La mañana de navidad, abriendo los regalos. Fue el mejor momento ver como nuestro nuevo integrante (mi sobrino) se distraría con cada obsequio que recibió. Esta navidad también me enteré que voy a ser tío nuevamente, pero esta vez el honor es de uno mis hermanos, fue una muy buena sorpresa para toda la familia.

Christmas morning, opening presents. It was the best moment to see how our new member (my nephew) was distracted by each gift he received. This Christmas i also found out that i am going to be an uncle again, but this time the honor goes to one of my brothers, it was a very nice surprise for the whole family.

Otro deseo de navidad es poder cultivar más momentos en familia. Que año tras año nos podamos reunir y conmemorar las navidades como siempre lo hemos hecho, celebrar la semana santa, nos reunamos ocasionalmente para hacer una parrillita un sancocho, arreglar la casa de uno de nosotros, un cumpleaños y sigamos creando escusas para reunirnos. Claro, llegará el momento en que cada uno de nosotros tomará sus propios caminos e igual para mí, que tenga que construir mis propios recuerdos con una nueva familia, porque en un futuro me veo con mis propios hijos, con mi esposa, suegros y aún veo a mis hermanos, mi madre y sobrinos compartiendo conmigo y mi familia. En general que la familia siga creciendo y uniéndose cada vez más.

Another Christmas wish is to be able to cultivate more family moments. That year after year we can get together and commemorate Christmas as we have always done, celebrate Easter, get together occasionally to make a barbecue, a sancocho, fix up one of us' house, a birthday and keep creating excuses to get together. Of course, the time will come when each of us will go our own ways and the same for me, that i will have to build my own memories with a new family, because in the future i see myself with my own children, with my wife, in-laws and i still see my siblings, my mother and nephews sharing with me and my family. In general that the family continues to grow and become more and more united.
