Punta de Mata

This photo was taken directly with my cell phone. It was taken in Punta de Mata, Monagas State, Venezuela, specifically on Bolívar Avenue. In this photo, we can clearly see the street and its essence; the black-and-white contrast highlights the workers’ labor.

We can also see a building in the distance that currently serves as a bank.

The motorcycles visible here are the most common form of transportation used in this area; they are also the means by which many people earn a living, as it is one of the most popular jobs. The people who ride these motorcycles to work every day do so on bikes that aren’t their own and pay a daily fee, which means they must work from early morning until late at night to cover those costs.
