Mi experiencia armando el altar de muertos (tradiciones mexicanas) / My experience making the altar of the dead (Mexican traditions)

Since October 31 in the morning, I started at home the assembly of the altar of the dead, adapting a little more to the Mexican traditions.

This altar is made in order to honor the dead of the family where food, candles, flowers and objects of daily use of the deceased are offered as offerings.

I started this activity by cleaning well the area where I was going to set up the altar, placing a white cloth on tables placed in a staggered way so that I could create 7 levels or steps since it is the most traditional Day of the Dead altar.

I cut out some palms in the garden and together with my husband I made an arch that according to Mexican traditions represents the entrance portal of the souls. I used artificial flowers and made an arch with flowers as well.

Each step of the Day of the Dead offering represents the steps that the souls must take in order to rest in peace.

On the main altar or seventh level a cross is placed representing that the deceased atone for their sins. I placed the images of photographs of my dead relatives and my beloved dog WIPI, I also placed glasses of water.

On level 3 place salt, which according to the beliefs is used to purify the spirit and to prevent the body from being corrupted.

Level 2 is dedicated to the souls in purgatory and is used for the deceased to have permission to leave that place.

On the altar I placed the cempasúchil flower, which is the flower used to guide the deceased with its scent and aroma. I was impressed when I was taking it apart, the amount of petals they had and the strong and pleasant smell of these petals. I did this activity with my niece in order to integrate her to these traditions.

When I finished the altar I liked the way it looked and it was the first time I did it this way, as I was doing it I had many mixed emotions, memories surfaced in my mind of the many happy moments I shared, placing each photo on the altar awakened dormant feelings that this way I relived them again, I only remembered the happy ones. I used my cell phone to play music that my father liked, which gave a magical touch to this moment during the altar setting.

Among the offerings there was coffee, a good roll bread (French), a bottle of tequila, pieces of coconut that my grandmother loved.

I still thought that more ofrendas were missing, one made by my own hands.

So the first day I made a delicious pan de muerto (bread of the dead). For my next post I will write the best recipe for my readers so they can make it.

I loved this Mexican tradition. In this way today November 2, 2021 I receive my deceased according to Mexican traditions with this beautiful altar.

Desde el 31 de octubre en la mañana, inicie en casa el montaje del altar de muertos, adaptándome un poco más a las tradiciones mexicanas.

Este altar se hace con el fín de rendirle honor a los muertos de la familia en donde se ofrece como ofrenda alimentos, velas, flores y objetos de uso cotidiano de los difuntos.

Inicie esta actividad limpiando bien el area donde iba a realizar el armado del altar, colocando una tela blanca sobre mesas colocadas en forma escalonada de tal manera que pudiera crear 7 niveles o escalones ya que es el altar del día de muertos más tradicional.

Recorté en el jardín unas palmas y junto con mi esposo la armé haciendo un arco que según las tradiciones mexicanas representa el portal de entrada de las almas. Ocupe flores artificiales y armé un arco con flores también.

Cada escalón de la ofrenda del día de muertos viene representando los pasos que las almas deben dar para poder descansar en paz.

En el altar mayor o séptimo nivel se coloca una cruz representando que los difuntos expíen sus culpas. Yo coloque las imágenes de las fotografías de mis familiares muertos y mi querido perrito WIPI, igual coloque vasos de agua.

En el nivel 3 coloque sal que según las creencias se utiliza para purificar el espíritu y para que no se corrompa el cuerpo.

El Nivel 2 esta dedicado a las almas del purgatorio y sirve para que el difunto tenga permiso para salir de ese lugar.

En el altar coloqué la flor de cempasúchil, el cual es la flor que se utiliza para guiar a los difuntos con su olor y aroma. Me impresionó cuando la estaba desarmando, la cantidad de pétalos que estas tenían y el olor tan fuerte y agradable de estos pétalos. Esta actividad la realicé con mi sobrina a fin de integrarla a estas tradiciones.

Cuando termine el altar me gustó como quedo y es la primera vez que lo hago de esta manera, en la medida que fuí haciéndolo tuve muchas emociones encontradas, los recuerdos afloraron a mi mente de los muchos momentos felices que compartí, en colocar cada foto en el altar me despertaron sentimientos dormidos que de esta manera los reviví nuevamente, sólo recordé los felices. Coloqué con mi celular música que le gustaba a mi padre los cual le dio un toque mágico a este momento durante el armado del altar.

Dentro de las ofrendas no pudo faltar el cafe, un buen pan de bolillo (francés), una botella de tequila, trozos de coco que le encantaban a mi abuela.

Aun seguí pensando que faltaban mas ofrendas, una realizada por mis manos. Por lo que el día primero realice un rico pan de muerto.

Para mi próximo post escribiré la mejor receta a mis lectores para que se animen hacerlo.

Me encanto esta tradición mexicana. De esta manera hoy 2 de noviembre del 2021 recibo a mis difuntos según las tradiciones mexicanas con este bello altar.
