A morning walk, at the evening!

Untitled-1.jpg

I started my evening walk following the exact same route that I do every morning from the place I sleep to the beach. According to my current residential status that means that I just have to walk 500 meters (1640 feet) from my bed to the sea.

A lovely way to start the day, isn't it?

The first thing to see, getting out of my doorstep, is the Medieval Castle, as solemn and robust as ever. Crossing the park is always a pleasure and the small walkway under the trees is a bliss, especially now, that we are experiencing the hottest days of the summer!

Of course the light is much different in the morning but you can get an idea of the scenery. The staircase in the picture below, leads to the castle. The legend says that there are 999 stairs but actually they are less than 900. Nevertheless it is not a climd for the fainthearted and, in combination with the extreme heat, they can break the spirit of the less athletic visitors.

The good news is that there is a road too, so you can get up there in the comfort of your car :)

When I was getting close to the beach, I took a turn going uphill alongside the old fortification. But we'll have the chance to see the beach and in the most panoramic way!

I go for my swim early in the morning but no matter how early I go, there are always some people there before me and as you can see in the pictures below, there are still people swimming long after the sun is gone. This is the only beach in walking distance for a town with more than 10.000 people so it is not surprising that it is so popular. Fortunately there are more beaches within a short drive distance and it doesn't get too overcrowded.

And while the beach was in the shadow, I could see a glorious sunset from the top of the hill.

This location is a small peninsula, a tiny one. From one side is the beach and from the other the old part of the town. And on top the medieval walls and an abandoned hotel. Going back and forth I have the chance to take pictures of two different sceneries in the split of a second :)

The historical centre is ideal for picturesque photographs no matter what the time of the day or your shooting position, might be. I am particularly fond though of this angle from above and during the sweet light of the dusk!

I had this walk at Wednesday evening so I might as well call it a #wednesdaywalk post, a great challenge, hosted by @tattoodjay :)

It has been a long time since my last post but some times life decides on our behalf and it is better to just go along. Other than that, after four months our move is finally concluded. We still have some boxes here and there and there are a lot to be done in the new place but we are here and slowly starting to built our routine! Hopefully there would be some more hive in this routine.

Cheers to all :)

All the pictures and the words are mine.

The proximity to the sea is one of the main reasons that we moved here!

I am glad you liked it :)

999 stairs would for sure kill my knees and the heat would finish me 😂

i totally missed the move. now laying in the dark with no electricity after the storm, at least i had the time to catch up. and i was kinda wondering that i didn't see a @traisto post in a while.

how is the new life with people around? 😄

The place does look beautiful.

Haha yes, I have climb those stairs when I was younger but I am not eager to repeat it soon, for sure not before the summer is over :)

The move was a big change and quite complicated too. We still have the farm land in Crete so we'll be spending a big part of the year there but our base is now at Nafplio, on the mainland. It is a beautiful place indeed and the hometown of @traisto! It's true she hasn't been posting all those months that we are trying to set up our new home, it has been a quite overwhelming period, especially for her. Hopefully she'll be back soon!

how is the new life with people around?

That's a very apt question. I have been thinking, more than once, that we lived too long at the outskirts of society and we kind of lost our communication skills :)
I guess an adjustment period is in order before we become fully functional members of the society again :)

I hope the electricity won't give you any more trouble :)

moving can be ruff, at least you are not in a completely new environment and from what i read you are pretty accustomed to it :)

could be a bit overwhelming where you go from maybe i will see my neighbor today to a town full of people :)

so olives can be grown with not that much care in the middle of the cycle. that is pretty good considering that you need to take a 18h boat ride to get to it :)

Less than 24 hours they fixed it. but it looks like my UPS died, few days ago it was holding for more then 10 minutes, yesterday it just did nothing. maybe it is just a battery.

Yes, olives can grow without much attention for many months and yes, UPS always die when you mostly need them :)

Of course this place is small but it is full of beauty. If only there was a beach near my house, I would have gone for a swim everyday. All the photos are very nice, especially the sunset ones.

The place is called Nafplio and it is in Greece. You can come here by car from Poland. It is quite expensive though :)

It's so perceivable that this is an enjoyable sight to explore. Aside from the all delightful urge of actually experiencing the all round tour of the area,I love the imperfect structure of where land meets sea. It shows the inseparable bond of elements in nature... so appealing and wisdom stimulating.
