Black demon

Spring is officially here, in the northern hemisphere that is, and a walk in the countryside is a must. And if you can't be physically in nature, a virtual walk will have to do. A walk like the one I am offering you today, with pictures of the beautiful Cretan landscape and flora!

Living in a tiny village, like the one in the picture below, gives you a major advantage when it comes to walking in the outdoors. You just have to step out of your doorstep and in a couple of minutes, you can find yourself among trees, herbs and flowers, growing voluntarily and abundantly all over the place!

An old national road, out of use for many years, offers the perfect hiking ground, on a terrain that is more suitable for wild goats rather than humans :)

A dirty road very narrow for cars but extremely wide and comfortable for hiking. And with an amazing view too!

Marcos (the dog) has never complained about a hike, he is always more than happy to keep us company in every single expedition. But especially that day he was thrilled, running back and forth like a frenetic black demon :)

An old stone sign, a fallen traffic pillar and the new road, way downhill, are reminding me that I am close to civilisation, although the landscape is so rough and wild!

The sea though, far away in the background, was particularly calm and alluring :)

I may not live in that village any more but I still remember fondly the countless walks that we had around it and the wonderful views it offered us daily!

I took those pictures in 24/3/2020, in the middle of the pandemic lockdown, feeling so fortunate that we had decided to leave the city before the outbreak of all this madness.

Here is the post that I wrote four years ago about that same walk with different pictures and different words but both as my contribution to the #wednesdaywalk challenge, hosted by @tattoodjay!

The camera that I used is a Canon EOS 6D mark II with an EF 24-105mm f4L lens attached. I edited the photographs in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic

All the pictures and the words are mine.

Thank you for reading and if you want to know more about me you can check out my introduction post.

Commenting, upvoting and rebloging are highly appreciated!

As someone who was born in a village but lives in a crowded city, I miss village life. I had the chance to visit a lot during the pandemic, but now I cannot go often.

I really like the location of the village in the pictures, it is in the middle of nature and the wonderful scenery, in the middle of great beauty. Thank you very much.

The pictures used are amazing and truly. Staying in such a small village reveals you to the stunning view of nature in every step you take out.

Thanks for sharing.

This 6-year anniversary in Blockchain has made you a bit nostalgic. You have taken us to 2020! 😁

What a wonderful landscape, my regards to you, Traisto and Marcos.

Aha, so apart from the posts, you read the comments too :)

I don't know if it is nostalgia or lack of fresh pictures but I am glad that at least you liked it!

Cheers from all of us :)
