Early January walk from the past

I arrived on the shore of lake Polyfytos before dawn. The high-mast lighting of the Servia bridge where on but they weren't enough to illuminate the rural scenery. I stepped out of the car and set my tripod on a firm spot. The setting was promising, with the lights of the bridge reflecting on the calm lake water, so despite of the biting cold I decided to take my chances and wait for the first light of the day. When the darkness of the night started to fade away, I realised that there was a factor that I hadn't calculate, the morning mist :)

The visibility was very low, I could hardly see the lights on the other side of the bridge but I took a few shots anyway. The result is not what I had in mind but I still like it, kind of dreamy and ethereal :)

My next stop was at Skepasmenos gorge for some waterfall hunting! It was the first trip of the year (early January) and I wasn't expecting to make it till the end of the 8 km long gorge but I wanted at least one waterfall picture and I got it :)

I promised myself though, to return another time in spring for a proper quest in this totally majestic landscape!

Before noon I was at Velvedos, one of the most beautiful villages of northern Greece and I had a couple of hours available for walking around the cobbled streets and taking pictures of the beautiful stone-built houses, renovated or not, I like them both ways!

Besides, I have told you more than once that I am a sucker for the decaying glory of old buildings :)

On my way back to Kozani, the nearby town where I was going to spend the night, I crossed again the Servia bridge and this time I chose a different viewpoint to capture it. It is a small village on the top of a hill, called Neraida and its most obvious advantage is the breathtaking view of the lake. No wonder why I have found so many restaurants and coffee shops there :)

Since I don't have a more recent walk to share, I traveled through my archive to the time that I was a photographer for a travel magazine and remembered that beautiful day for my #wednesdaywalk post, a lovely challenge, hosted by @tattoodjay!

Happy Wednesday, happy walks :)

Most of my trips were for work. Which means that I was always in the rush and never had the time to fully enjoy a place but on the other hand, I was paid to travel which is awesome :)
I hope you'll have the chance to travel as much as you wish!

It's mighty far. That's for sure. But, who knows where life could take us right?

OHHH WOW what an amazing walk, every shot so beautiful but I especially love the first photo it has such a magical and surreal feel to it

Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk, Sorry last week was a bit rough for me and I not only did not get out for any walks, but also was not able to visit all the walks from last week, but feeling better this week and visiting posts again which is always fun for me to visit the walks from all around the world, getting a feel for communities where people live and what they see on their daily walks

Yes, that first picture turned out pretty nice after all. When I realised the thickness of the mist, I was sure that I was freezing out there for no reason but finally it worth the effort!

Your shots are always superb, my dear friend. I did not know that you are a photographer for a travel magazine. Perhaps they were all realistic, and I felt like I was travelling with you. You are indeed incredible, and I am so happy to see your beautiful captures once more. Glad to be here in this community as I am seeing the works of great minds and, indeed work of arts from the heart. I always commend you for that my amazing friend.
