Elementary knowledge

I never had a Monday to Friday job in my life. I have spent countless weekends and holidays working and more weekdays that I can remember, resting. So Sunday never meant something special to me. Even more, the last 9 years that I was practically living on the fringes of society and my days were regulated by the weather and the circle of nature, rather than any manmade calendar.

But now I am living in a town and I have to follow the rhythm of society again :)

And people have jobs

and kids that go to school

and Sunday is a unique opportunity to see them and enjoy their company!

Elementary knowledge, you might say, but I kind of forgot it :)

So today we met a few friends for coffee (cacao for me :)) at a beautiful place that is a lot more than a coffee shop.

Fougaro in Greek means chimney.

Fougaro Art Center is placed at renovated and repurposed industrial buildings and includes gardens, patios, workshops, libraries, a gallery, a cafe-bistro and of course the imposing smokestack from which it took its name. It hosts a lot of events for children and adults and according to its creator:

It is a large interactive work of art!

For sure it is a lovely place to spend your afternoon and kids just love the freedom to roam around the plot inventing games and pranks :)

The restoration of the buildings is truly magnificent. They used to be a canning industry during the 1930's and now, almost 100 years later, after a lot of ups and downs, they have found new life and purpose! And in such a tasteful and elegant way :)

Obviously, I couldn't help myself from taking a few pictures and sharing them with you!

This is my first post at the WEEKEND EXPERIENCES COMMUNITY. I hope @galenkp will find it legit!

And since it is still Sunday, this is also my contribution to #SublimeSunday inspired by @c0ff33a and #BeautifulSunday initiated by @ace108.

Have a great week ahead!

Totally beautiful. I love how people get old falling apart places and make them new again, especially when they are art spaces or spaces that the community can enjoy. Definitely seems like a nice place for a cacao latte!

Yes, I have a thing for old falling apart places too :)
And they have done a great job, in this case!

I always appreciate the jobs that rest on weekends. Even when there is no special plans. When i was with the COVID-19 task group, the rest days were not necessarily weekends. I think working when other people are not is psychologically sad in some ways for me.

I know what you mean. I started working on weekends from a very young age and then when I was studying in the university it was easier to work on weekends and then as a photographer I was working on very different hours, day or night, weekdays or weekends. It is only now, that I am getting older, that I started to appreciate a more normal schedule.

Nice shots. Congratulations on managing to live off-grid for so many years!

Thanks! Technically we weren't off-grid (we were connected to the electricity network) but our way of living was practically the same :)
